Bayern Munich won the last 10 Bundesliga titles. Barely losing at home had a lot to do with that. Last season, Julian Nagelsmann’s team finished with a 13-2-2 record at Allianz Arena, where they’ll face Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Last week, Bayern crushed Frankfurt while Wolfsburg saved a point against Werder Bremen, showing a lot of resilience. Buckle up, because if there’s something you can expect from these two, it’s goals. Regarding the soccer odds, there are no surprises as Bayern is in control.
Bayern Munich: Nothing Changed
Robert Lewandowski left, but Bayern Munich wasted no time in finding a replacement. We’re talking about Sadio Mane, who scored one of the six goals with which Bayern crushed Frankfurt 6-1 on Matchday 1. Joshua Kimmich, Benjamin Pavard, Jamal Musiala (twice) and Serge Gnabry also hit the back of the net.
Lewandowski was a beast, but Bayern’s performance on Matchday 1 proved they’ll be just fine without him. Besides Gnabry and Sane, there are also Leroy Sane, Joshua Zirkzee and Mathys Tel. In other words, they still have talent to spare.
As if that wasn’t enough, the reigning champs also brought in some defensive reinforcements in Matthijs de Ligt and Ryan Gravenberch. Both played some minutes against Frankfurt after coming off the bench. The crazy part is that last season, no other team allowed fewer goals in the Bundesliga than Bayern with 37.
Summing up, Bayern’s a well-oiled machine. Last week, they scored the opener only five minutes into the game while the sixth goal came in the 83rd minute. They simply don’t stop running. So yes, the -625 price they’re offering in the sportsbook is justified.
Wolfsburg: Nothing to Lose
Unlike Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg opened the season at home. They drew to Werder Bremen in a back-and-forth battle that ended 2-2.
Lukas Nmecha scored the opener for Wolfsburg only 11 minutes into the game. However, 12 minutes later, the visitors were already up thanks to Niclas Fullkrug and Leonardo Bittencourt, who scored in a two-minute span. Later, Joshua Guilavogui scored the equalizer with only six minutes left.
The Wolves were offering a +105 price to win, so the draw wasn’t a bad result. For Sunday’s game, they’re offering a +1300 price.
“If we go there and don’t believe we can win, there’s no point in us turning up. We are athletes and, sometimes, calculated optimists. We want to try and get something. You have to assume that you’ll fall behind and, if you do, you have to stick to what you set out to do,” explained manager Niko Kovac during a press conference.
Kovac knows Munich very well as he coached Bayern from July 2018 to November 2019. He led them to win the Bundesliga, the DFB Pokal and DFL-Supercup. He must have some pretty good intel, right?
Yannick Gerhardt and Jonas Wind won’t be available due to injury, but the rest of the team is ready to go.
