Bet on Everton to Continue Impressive Form vs Burnley
Everton was docked 10 points during last month’s international break for breaching financial rules, the highest point deduction ever given to a Premier League team. The Toffees have been competing in the top flight since 1954-55, second only to Arsenal (1919-20), and after two straight years of narrowly escaping the drop in the season’s final two weeks, they are looking to avoid another nervy relegation battle.
Everton has won three straight Premier League matches for the first time since March 2021 under Carlo Ancelotti, and they sit 17th in the table, one point behind Nottingham Forest, four above Luton Town, and five above Burnley and Sheffield United. You take away their 10-point deduction and they’d be 10th in the table, ahead of Fulham, Brentford, and Chelsea. If you’re planning to bet on English soccer this weekend, bet on Everton picking up their eighth league win of the season at Turf Moor.

Despite their record point deduction, there’s a reason why our sportsbook isn’t showing plenty of confidence in Everton going down. Nearly one year after replacing Frank Lampard at the helm, Sean Dyche has instilled the same hard-working, determined DNA that saw him punch above his weight at Burnley. Over the course of 10 years, Dyche led Burnley from the Championship to the Premier League to their first European qualification in over half a century before departing in 2022. He’ll be returning to his old stomping grounds on Saturday, facing off against a Burnley side struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League.
Only one team in Premier League history has stayed up after taking four points from 12 matches: Everton 1994-95.
Burnley will be looking to do the same and bounce back from a dismal start.

After falling to a 2-1 defeat to West Ham, Burnley became the second team in the history of English League football to lose their first seven home matches to start the season since fourth-tier Newport County in 1970-71.
Burnley is yet to keep a clean sheet this season in the Premier League, and I don’t expect that to change this weekend. The Toffees have scored at least two goals in three of their last five, and as such, picking them to score over 1.5 goals is a reliable addition to your soccer bet predictions at +113.
It should come as no surprise that, despite their 10-point deduction, our betting lines are backing Everton to steer clear of the drop. They are long shots to suffer relegation at +600, behind Sheffield United (-1200), Luton Town (-600), Burnley (-225) and Nottingham Forest (+275).
With a red-hot attack and a steel trap defense that has picked up three clean sheets on the bounce, there’s more than enough reason to back Everton to take home the victory, having previously beaten Burnley 3-0 on Nov. 1 in the EFL Cup Round of 16.
Frozen out under Lampard and made to train away from the first team, Abdoulaye Doucoure looked headed for a January departure only to remain put and play a key role in midfield, a genuine box-to-box dynamo who is capable of popping up with lung-busting runs into the edge of the box and crucial goals.
The Mali international has scored three goals in his last five matches for Everton, who have won nine of their last 13 matches in all competitions, and he’ll be looking to take his tally to seven Premier League goals – make sure to add a Doucoure goal to your player prop bets for Burnley vs Everton.
