Arsenal needed four games to get its first victory of the English Premier League season. Defeating Norwich allowed manager Mikel Arteta to keep his job, but the Gunners still have a lot to improve.
On the other hand, Burnley remains winless. Nevertheless, a victory over Arsenal would allow the team to get out of the relegation zone. This game seems like a perfect opportunity for both sides to clear some doubts.

Last season, they met twice and Arsenal couldn’t beat Burnley. First, the Clarets went to London and won 1-0 thanks to an own goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Later, they drew 1-1 at Turf Moor. Aubameyang scored for the visitors while Chris Wood struck for the home side.
Arsenal hasn’t beat Burnley in its last three meetings, but it owns a 7-2-1 record in their last 10. During that span, the Gunners scored 18 goals, allowed six, and finished with a clean sheet four times. The total went over in five of those games.
The Gunners won at Turf Moor for the last time in the 2018-19 season. They did it 3-1 with Aubameyang as the Player of the Match after scoring twice.
Why Bet on Burnley?
It’s hard to make a compelling case to include Burnley in your soccer picks, but I’m going to try. First, the Clarets need to start winning now and can’t afford to lose more points, especially at home. Second, they showed some improvement in their last two games.
They sit in 18th place with one point thanks to a 0-1-3 record, three goals for and eight against. They’ve allowed one goal fewer than Arsenal. Most recently, they lost 3-1 to Everton. They were up 1-0, but then allowed three goals in six minutes.
“For a lot of the game we dominated. We have to take that into the weekend now, facing another tough game. We still believe, it is just that final detail, which we are normally good at. We have been in this position before and crawled back,” said midfielder Josh Brownhill after their last game.
Burnley had only two points after the first seven games last season. I know it’s a long season but getting too comfortable in that position could be dangerous. If the Clarets want to turn things around, they have to start now.
Chris Wood remains the best player in the team. He’s the only offensive player that has scored a goal. Ccenter backs James Tarkowski and Ben Mee scored the other two. Maybe that’s why they’re having so much trouble winning games.
Defensively, Burnley has a very experienced goalkeeper in Nick Pope. He even has played with England’s national team and just needs to regain more confidence. The Clarets also started the season 1-2-1 against the spread and 2-2 over/under.
Connor Roberts is out due to a groin injury. Their expected lineup is Nick Pope; Matthew Lowton, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Johann Guomundsson, Ashley Westwood, Josh Brownhill, Dwight McNeil; Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes.
Why Bet on Arsenal?
Prior to the start of the season, Arsenal wasn’t among the favorites to win the EPL title. The Gunners have several seasons without being able to compete with the powerhouses, on and off the field.
Scores and odds haven’t been on their side lately, but I do believe they have a talented roster. At least talented enough not to be in 16th place. The Gunners are sitting in that position thanks to a 1-0-3 record, one goal for and nine against. Come on, only one goal for with Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette on the team?.
Most recently, the Gunners got their first victory of the season by beating Norwich 1-0. Aubameyang scored the winning goal in a game in which Arsenal had 30 shots (seven on target). I guess Arteta must focus on efficiency.
Besides Aubameyang and Lacazette, Arsenal’s roster also includes Nicolas Pepe, Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. They should be scoring more goals per game. Defensively, the Gunners spent a lot of money on Ben White, but he hasn’t been what they expected.
Now that they finally won, they should play less pressured. They still are in a must-win situation, but at least they’re no longer in the relegation zone. The Gunners also started the season 0-4 against the spread and 1-3 over/under.
Granit Xhaka is out due to suspension but the rest of the team is ready to go. Their expected lineup is Aaron Ramsdale; Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White, Gabriel dos Santos, Kieran Tierney; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Lokonga, Nicolas Pepe, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Final Analysis, Predictions
Even though both are at the bottom of the standings, I expect a great match. Both are in a must-win situation and both recently had a confidence boost. Arsenal should take the reins of the game right from the start, but Burnley won’t be easy prey. I expect both sides to score, as they did in four of their last six meetings, and the total to go over.
