Back the Over for Czechia vs Turkiye

Czechia rode into the Euros on the back of five straight victories – four of those coming in friendlies – but they have been unable to build on that momentum thus far. They took the lead within 62 minutes vs. Portugal only to cough up an equalizer shortly after and allow Francisco Conceicao to complete the comeback in extra time.

They looked on course for a second straight defeat after Georges Mikautadze converted from the penalty spot before halftime, but Patrik Schick would level proceedings at the hour-mark. Czechia continued to push for a winner, only to be nullified by an impeccable Giorgi Mamardashvilli between the sticks, who made 11 saves and led Georgia to a historic point.

After a frustrating night that saw them register 27 shots, Czechia are in need of a victory and will be forced to push forward in search of an early goal, which could leave plenty of space for Turkiye’s quick dribblers and counter-attacking demons – Kerem Akturkoglu, Yunus Akgun and Arda Guler, if healthy.

As opposed to Czechia, Turkiye entered the tournament on the back of three losses in four matches, but they control their fate heading into the final matchday. They sit three points behind Portugal and two above Czechia and Georgia, and they are inches away from securing their first knockout round berth in the Euros since 2000.

Both teams will be looking to go all out for the win in order to secure second place, and we’re expecting both teams to continue their patterns of high-scoring form in Hamburg. Bet on Over 2.5 goals for Turkiye vs Czechia at -105.

Will Ailing Patrik Schick Be Good to Go for Czechs?

It has been three years since Czechia reached the Euro quarterfinals thanks in large part to a sensational campaign from Patrik Schick, who finished level in the Golden Boot race alongside Cristiano Ronaldo after scoring five goals. That included a stunning finish that saw him chip the Scotland goalkeeper from the halfway line.

Schick scored a vital equalizer vs. Georgia, becoming Czechia’s all-time leading scorer in the Euros, before suffering a calf injury and being withdrawn in the 68th minute. It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be fit enough for the Turkiye match and his potential absence could very well loom large for the Czechs.

Should he miss out due to injury, expect his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Adam Hlozek and Feyenoord’s Ondrej Lingr to lead the line for a Czechia side that will be looking to set the tempo and be on the front foot from start to finish.

Having scored just one goal in 2024, Hlozek isn’t quite riding high on confidence, but he has the quick feet and dynamism to cause a threat to Turkey’s backline. If Czechia are to book their spot in the Round of 16, they’ll need Hlozek to be sharper than a Schick razor.

Whether or not Schick is fully fit for the Hamburg trip, there’s more than enough reason to back this one to be a high-scoring affair in your Euro betting prop picks.
