Wolves are on course for a top-half finish in the Premier League, but need to improve their game Saturday when they travel to Chelsea. Premier League offers live betting using our sportsbook.
Chelsea: Confusion is affecting the squad
Chelsea could be removed from the Premier League next season if the takeover process is not completed by the end of May. That’s because the special operating license given to Chelsea by the UK government (due to the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich) expires May 31. Time is clearly running out for the Blues, with the sanctions and confusion about their future affecting the players and their performances.
There’s no contract negotiations, no further ticket sales and no merchandise. The list goes on and it’s unprecedented in the history of the Premier League. Abramovich previously expressed the desire to protect Chelsea, but now he wants his money back, too. With eight points dropped in their previous four fixtures, Chelsea is sweating a top-four finish. The Blues are just three points ahead of No. 4 Arsenal and five clear of Tottenham.
The Blues went down, 1-0, to a relegation-threatened Everton in probably their worst game across all competitions since the start of the season. It’s unimaginable that Chelsea could end the season out of the top four, but given the circumstances, perhaps we should take that possibility under consideration. Next week, they play Liverpool in the final of the FA Cup, but Thomas Tuchel can’t risk resting his key players, since this clash is a must-win in order to keep their top-four finish alive.
Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi remain in the recovery room,. so Tuchel is considering shuffling his attacking line with either Christian Pulisic or Hakim Ziyech. Jorginho’s injury is unclear, but Tuchel hopes to have N’Golo Kante back in the fold for the visit of Wolves. It’s risky to back Chelsea, given issues on and off the pitch. However, the difference between the two sides is huge. We will include the Blues in our soccer picks and parlays.
Wolves: Fighting for a European spot
Three defeats in a row have left Wolves scrambling to even make the Europa Conference League, The team sits eighth in the standings with 49 points, three behind West Ham in seventh. Add to that Bruno Lage’s side failed to find the back of the net against Brighton, Burnley, and Newcastle, three teams sitting behind them in the standings. Wolves have played one fewer game than the Hammers, and a victory at Stamford Bridge would fire them back into European football next term.
Taking just three points from their last five away games (scoring only two goals in the process) also is worrying for a Wolves side that hasn’t been renowned for attacking firepower. So, their status as European outsiders is even more impressive given the circumstances. Only Everton and Norwich have netted fewer goals on the road this season, with both sides sitting in the red zone.
Also, Nelson Semedo will miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury he incurred in the early minutes of the second half against Brighton. Daniel Podence and Maximilian Kilman are keeping Semedo company, as they’re also recovering. Fabio Silva’s halftime change last time out was a tactical one, with the youngster expected to start against Chelsea. If you’re betting online, check injuries issues and wait for the official lineups to come out one hour before the match. That’s the smartest thing to do before placing your bets.
Chelsea vs Wolves Head-to-Head
The visitors to Stamford Bridge have not drawn a Premier League game since back in December, against Chelsea in a drab Molineux scoreless stalemate. Wolves have proved to be a tough nut to crack for Chelsea in the last couple of seasons, going three games without defeat, including a 2-1 win at Molineux. Goals haven’t come easy for Chelsea of late, scoring just twice in their last three matches. Wolves failed to find the back of the net in their last three EPL fixtures, losing all. Chelsea lost two of their last three home games, but they’ve scored in every single home fixture since September, 2021.

Chelsea vs Wolves Predictions
The hosts enter this clash as heavy favorites, priced at -290 on the three-way moneyline, according to the latest soccer odds while the goal line is set at 2½.
It’s difficult to predict the outcome of this game. Normally, Chelsea should win this clash, but they’re surrounded by so many problems with many of their players scared about their futures. We don’t know if they will be able to cover the spread since their confidence is at low levels. They will probably win, as they’re playing at home and their goal percentage on home soil is amazing. We won’t risk backing them, however.
Wolves are one of the worst-scoring teams on the road this season. At the same time, they’ve allowed just 13 goals in 17 away games. So, they’re very organized at the back. They will be happy to return home with a point, so they’ll fight for the draw. We will back the unders with a small stake, but for our official selection, we’re going with a combo bet.
