Brazil and Argentina already earned their ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. That means CONMEBOL only has two more direct tickets available. In order to get one, the remaining teams must finish the World Cup qualifiers in third or fourth place. Fifth place will qualify for a playoff series against an Asian team. The winner will travel to Qatar as well.
If the WCQ ended today, Colombia would qualify directly while visiting Peru would have to start preparing for the playoff series. It’s a crucial game, things could drastically change for the loser.

After a rocky start, including a 6-1 defeat at Ecuador, Colombia has turned things around. Now, Los Cafeteros depend only on themselves to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. It would be their third in a row.
Curiously enough, Colombia didn’t win any of its last five games, but got a draw in four of them. Most recently, they drew 0-0 to Paraguay. If you were looking for a balanced team, look no further. Los Cafeteros didn’t score a single goal in those five games and allowed only one.
I know those aren’t great numbers, but Colombia is one of the few teams that managed to win points against Brazil and Argentina. First, they drew 2-2 to Lionel Messi and Co. Later, they drew 0-0 against Brazil.
Duvan Zapata won’t be available due to injury, but veteran Radamel Falcao is back. El Tigre, who plays for Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, is having a great season. Plus, the chemistry between Falcao and James Rodriguez is second to none.
Reinaldo Rueda, Colombia’s head coach, has a lot of experience in guiding teams to the World Cup. He led Honduras to the 2010 edition and did the same with Ecuador in 2014. Having an experienced head coach and a roster full of talent can make a huge difference in crucial games.

Peru: Must-Win
Peru is sitting in fifth place with 17 points, one more than Chile and Uruguay and two more than Bolivia. That means Peru can’t afford to lose. Otherwise, they could fall to eighth place. On the other hand, a victory could boost them up to fourth place and it might include a comfortable advantage.
The visitors come from two huge victories. First, 3-0 over Bolivia with goals from Gianluca Lapadula, Christian Cueva and Sergio Flores. Later, they won 2-1 over Venezuela as Lapadula and Cueva scored again.
Playing 4-5-1 allows Peru to control the ball, winning possession in the last two games, and create more second chances. That’s very important considering they’ll probably rely on the counter-attack at Colombia.
Peru deserves to be the soccer betting underdog but you won’t find a more tempting underdog, especially at +515. Head coach Ricardo Gareca has done a great job in building up the team’s confidence. He led them to their first World Cup in 36 years and they’re sure that he can do it again.
