Neither Have Meet Expectations
Last season, the Colorado Rapids and the Portland Timbers made it to the playoffs. In fact, they met in the Western Conference Semifinals. That’s why the Rapids are out for revenge because the Timbers defeated them.
This season, both have had rocky starts, so this a must-win situation after only eight games. There’s a betting online favorite, right? It’s the Rapids (-125), who remain undefeated at home.

Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and USA MLS odds for Colorado Rapids vs Portland Timbers. We’ve plenty of soccer predictions for you to consider.
Colorado Rapids Must Win ASAP
The Colorado Rapids won for the last time on March 12, 2-0 against Sporting KC, at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Since then, they’re 0-3-2.
Most recently, they drew, 0-0., to Charlotte FC, the newest franchise in the league. Believe it or not, the Rapids finished with no shots on target against a team that has allowed 11 goals. If a stat like that doesn’t motivate them to improve, nothing will.
As was mentioned before, the good news is that the Rapids have been considerably better when playing at home (2-2-0), outscoring their opponents, 6-1. Dating to last season, Colorado hasn’t been defeated in 20 straight games at home,
Another good news is that they recently signed Gyasi Zardes, a veteran striker that can make a huge difference.
“I know this week, I’m going to take advantage of talking to my teammate and talking to the coaching staff to make sure that I understand the principles and the structure of this team”, he said after playing some minutes against Charlotte.
As for not so good news, Braian Galvan, Aboubacar Keita, Oliver Larraz, and Danny Wilson remain questionable.
Portland Timbers Turning Things Around
After a rocky start, the Portland Timbers haven’t lost in their last three games.
First, they defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps, 3-2, with goals from Dairon Asprilla, Jaroslaw Niezgoda, and Yimmi Chara. Then, they drew, 0-0, to the Houston Dynamo. They also drew, 0-0, to Real Salt Lake.
Two consecutive clean sheets allowed the defense to regain some confidence after conceding 13 goals in their first seven games. Josecarlos Van Rankin returning from injury had a lot to do with that.
The Timbers are 1-2-1 on the road. Not the best numbers, but we’re talking about the only team that managed to draw against Los Angeles FC, the team atop the Western Conference.
The Timbers come in as the soccer betting underdogs, priced at +330.
As for their injury report, Diego Gutierrez isn;t available. He won’t be available for a while after having surgery.

Colorado Rapids vs Portland Timbers Prediction
Signing Gyasi Zardes was a great move by the Colorado Rapids. With him, they’re going to be a more balanced team. However, the Portland Timbers’ defense is on the rise, though Zardes still needs time to adapt. Therefore, our football prediction is a draw, but we expect both to score. In their last 10 meetings, each team failed to score only twice.
Score Prediction: Colorado Rapids 1, Portland Timbers 1
