Seattle Starting To Meet Expectations
Prior to the start of the season, the Seattle Sounders were among the favorites to dethrone New York City FC. If the season ended today, the Sounders wouldn’t qualify for the postseason. The good news is that defeating the Colorado Rapids could boost them to seventh place in the Western Conference. It would also allow them to start talking about a streak as it would be their third straight victory.
On the other hand, the Rapids want to bounce back after suffering an unexpected loss against one of the worst teams in the West. Remaining undefeated at home is enough for them to dominate the soccer lines at -130.
Colorado Rapids’ Impressive Streak
As mentioned before, the Colorado Rapids remain unbeaten when playing at home thanks to a 4-2-0 record. Most recently, they defeated Los Angeles FC 2-0 with goals from Gyasi Zardes and Diego Rubio. Finishing with a clean sheet against the second top-scoring team in the league was a great achievement.
Colorado transformed Dick’s Sporting Goods Park into a fortress a long time ago. The victory over LAFC was the Rapids’ 22nd straight match without losing at home (13-9-0). That’s tied for the fifth-longest regular-season home unbeaten streak in MLS history.
As also mentioned before, midweek Colorado suffered an unexpected loss against Sporting KC (thirteenth place). The Rapids couldn’t stop Daniel Salloi, who scored twice, and lost 2-1. As if that wasn’t enough, Austin Trusty and Lucas Esteves got a red card. That means they won’t be available to face the Seattle Sounders.
The good news is that head coach Robin Fraser has plenty of options to replace them. That includes Michael Barrios and Mark-Anthony Kaye, who didn’t start against Kansas City. There’s also the fact that Zardes now looks more comfortable leading the attack. He was transferred from the Columbus Crew a few weeks ago. Rubio and he have the potential to become the deadliest duo in the league.
The last time the Rapids failed to win when playing as the betting online favorites was on April 23. They were offering a -175 price to defeat Charlotte FC, but the game ended with a goalless draw.
Seattle Sounders Finding Rhythm
After defeating Pumas to become the first team from the MLS to win the CONCACAF Champions League, things got better for the Seattle Sounders. Yes, they lost in the Round of 32 of the U.S. Open Cup, but winning that tourney wasn’t a priority.
Regarding MLS, the Sounders have won two games in a row. First, they defeated Minnesota United 3-1. Most recently, they went to Houston and defeated the Dynamo 1-0. Raul Ruidiaz scored in both games, allowing him to regain a lot of confidence.
Goalkeeper Stefan Frei also regained a lot of confidence thanks to his first clean sheet of the MLS season. Overall, he has finished with a clean sheet 87 times, enough to be third all-time in the league’s history.
The above is why I consider Seattle a tempting online gambling underdog, especially at +355. A $100 wager on the visitors could make you cash out $455. The last time they pulled off a stunner was in early April. They defeated Minnesota United 2-1 while offering a +235 price.
Alex Roldan won’t be available due to suspension. The rest of the team is highly motivated and ready to go.

Last season, these two collided three times. Both games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park finished 1-1, while the Seattle Sounders won 3-0 at Lumen Field. Seattle owns a 6-2-2 record in its last 10 meetings with the Colorado Rapids.
During that span, Seattle failed to score only once, while Colorado failed four times. Even so, the total went over in six of those games. After all, we’re talking about two offensive-minded teams.

Colorado Rapids vs Seattle Sounders Prediction
If you were looking for an underdog to include in your Soccer picks, the Seattle Sounders are the answer. The visitors’ attacking unit is stacked with talent: Ruidiaz, Jordan Morris, Nicolas Lodeiro, and Freddy Montero. All four have scored five or more goals in all competitions. With the CCL and the U.S. Open Cup out of the way, the Sounders have no excuse to not meet expectations. The Rapids will put up a good fight, but they won’t be able to tie the fourth-longest home streak, 23 games, by the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2014-15.
Score Prediction: Seattle Sounders 2, Colorado Rapids 1
Pick: Seattle Sounders at +355
