Portugal’s First Visit to the Czech Republic

Do or Die Matchup for Both

The UEFA Nations League A Group 2 is on fire, literally! Spain is atop the standings with eight points, only one more than Portugal. The Czech Republic is third with four points, while Switzerland sits last with three, meaning all four still have a chance to qualify for the Semifinals.

Regarding this matchup, both need to win, especially if Spain defeats Switzerland, which is highly probable according to the latest soccer lines. Ronaldo and the Navigators come in as the favorites, but Tomas Soucek and the Narodak have been considerably better when playing at home.

Let’s check the latest UEFA Nations League picks, stats, injury reports, and UEFA Nations League odds for Czech Republic vs Portugal. We’ve plenty of UEFA Nations League predictions for you to consider.

Czech Republic: Glad to be Home

The Czech Republic began the tournament on the right foot thanks to a 2-1 victory over Switzerland at home. Jan Kuchta scored the opener, while an own-goal by Djibril Sow allowed the Narodak to seal the deal.

Three days later, they played host to Spain and almost beat them. Jakub Pesek and Jan Kuchta scored for the home side, while Pablo Gavira, better known as Gavi, and Inigo Martinez did it for the visitors. Martinez scored the equalizer in stoppage time.

When playing on the road, things have been completely different since they couldn’t even score when they visited Portugal and Spain, losing both games 2-0. This is one of those cases in which playing at home can truly make a huge difference.

That and the +400 price they’re offering in the sportsbook is what makes the Narodak such a tempting underdog. If the winning-at-home trend continues, you will win $400 per every $100 wagered on them.

The Czech Republic will remain in finals contention if they win and Spain doesn’t. Plus, they’ll be safe from relegation if they win and Switzerland loses. Plenty of reasons to go all-in right from the start.

Portugal: Preparing for the Last Dance

The 2022 World Cup will be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last dance with the national team. That’s why this matchup and the one against Spain scheduled for Tuesday are so important because we’re talking about the last two games before the big stage.

The Navigators sit second thanks to a 2-1-1 record, seven goals for and only two against. No other team has scored more goals than them, and no other team has allowed fewer goals than them, not even Spain.

Portugal has played two games on the road. First, they drew 1-1 with Spain. Alvaro Morata scored the opener for La Roja in the first half, while the Navigators managed to even the score thanks to Ricardo Horta, who scored eight minutes before the end.

Later, they visited Switzerland and lost 1-0. They dominated the game completely, winning possession with 58 percent and taking six more shots on target, but Haris Seferovic’s goal at one minute was too much for them.

Portugal definitely deserves to be in control of the odds board with a -130 price. We’re talking about a team with talent to spare, especially on offense. Besides Ronaldo there are Diogo Jota, Bruno Fernandes, Andre Silva, Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leao, Otavinho, and Horta.

Portugal had no trouble fulfilling its role as betting online favorites in the first leg. The Navigators won 2-0 with goals scored by Joao Cancelo and Goncalo Guedes. They completely dominated the game, winning possession with 64 percent and taking four more shots on target. The referee ended up having a ton of work as he showed six yellow cards in total, including one only three minutes into the game.

Czech Republic vs Portugal Prediction

I truly believe Portugal’s one of the most talented teams in the world, enough even to consider them a heavy favorite to win the 2022 WC. Nevertheless, they must improve their chemistry and efficiency in front of goal. They need to forget about who’s the boss and focus on winning as a team. If they manage to do that, they’ll be practically invincible.

That doesn’t mean they won’t suffer, especially when playing on the road. Therefore, my soccer prediction is a close victory for the Navigators, in which both teams will score enough for the total to go over. In the end, there’s too much at stake for both not to go all-in right from the start.

Score Prediction: Portugal 2, Czech Republic 1
