And whilst they face a difficult opponent in Mexican giants Monterrey, they have more than enough quality to brush past them and advance to the quarterfinals. Dortmund have been reinvented under Niko Kovac, going from midtable mediocrity to top four and winning eight of their last nine matches. We’re expecting their winning ways to continue in our Club World Cup predictions.

All signs point to this being a low-scoring fixture. Dortmund have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four matches, whilst two of their last three have served up under 1.5 goals. As for Rayados, both of their first two matches vs. Inter and River Plate produced under 2.5 goals, before they went on to demolish Urawa Reds 4-0 in Pasadena. Monterrey will be a stern test for the German powerhouse, but ultimately, we’re expecting them to come up short.
