Can Gakpo Make the Difference for the Dutch?

From captain Virgil van Dijk to defensive partner Nathan Aké to the youngest goalkeeper in the Euros in Bart Verbruggen, this Netherlands side will feature a variety of Premier League players who have ample experience in English football. However, perhaps none will be more crucial than Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo.

At 25 years old, Gakpo has emerged as a reliable attacking presence for the Oranje, grabbing a goal or an assist in three matches this tournament, and whilst he wasn’t quite able to continue his goal-scoring heroics against Turkiye, he was able to force an own goal from Mert Muldur. Having scored twice in seven minutes, Ronald Koeman’s side defended valiantly and held firm for the final 20 minutes and prevailed with a narrow victory over Turkiye.

It was their second comeback win of the tournament, and it was the latest sign of resilience from a team that has had to cope with countless injuries such as Frenkie de Jong, Marten de Roon and Teun Koopmeiners.

They’ll be counting on Gakpo’s dynamism to give them an extra dimension in attack against the Three Lions. Att +325 odds, Gakpo to find the back of the net vs. England is a worthy addition to your betting prop picks.

Don’t Bet on England Shutting Down Netherlands

Whilst the Oranje have grown accustomed to high-scoring fixtures, Gareth Southgate’s England are at the opposite end of the spectrum: Each of their last seven official matches have ended with under 2.5 goals after 90 minutes.

England, however, have fallen behind in their last two matches and have kept just one clean sheet in their last four matches. The Three Lions have narrowly staved off defeat in their last two matches thanks to the late individual heroics of Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka.

This has the makings of a high-scoring affair, and we’re backing both teams to find the back of the net in our Euro betting predictions. At -112, pick the Over – there’s more than enough reason to expect the Netherlands to feature over 2.5 goals for the fourth straight match.

Both teams will be looking to reach their second Euro Final. Whilst the Netherlands beat the Soviet Union in the 1988 final, England fell to Italy on penalties in the most recent final.

England are in the semifinals for the third time in four major tournaments under Southgate whilst the Dutch are back in a semifinal for the first time in a decade, when they lost to Argentina in the World Cup. Both sides will be leaving it all on the pitch as they look to book their ticket for the final in Berlin. We’re backing both England and the Netherlands to find the back of the net.
