Can Georgia Pull off an Upset? Don’t Bet on It
It has been a summer of firsts for Georgia. After edging Greece on penalties to secure a spot in the competition, Georgia played their first-ever match at a major tournament and fell 3-1 to Turkey, before taking their first-ever lead and a first-ever point in a 1-1 draw vs. Czechia. In the following match, Georgia shocked the world and beat Portugal 2-0 to secure their spot in the knockout round.
Georgia has been able to dig deep and prove resilient in the face of pressure thanks in large part to the individual heroics of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvilli as well as some courageous defending from the entire squad – no team has won more tackles per game (21.0) or completed more clearances per game (32.7). They have one of the best wingers in Europe and Khvicha Kvaratshkelia, and in Georges Mikautadze, they have the top scorer in the entire tournament.
Giorgi Mamardashvili this season:
-Most goals prevented in La Liga (9.3)
-Most goals prevented in the Euros (3.1)
-Most saves per 90 in the Euros (8.0)
Is the Georgian capable of becoming Eastern Europe’s next top goalkeeper?

But while Georgia has been accustomed to sitting back and absorbing the pressure, Spain has been able to control proceedings and outclass their opponents throughout the tournament. As such, La Roja will likely have more energy in their legs and could have the physical advantage going into this knockout round match in Cologne. Spain won its six competitive fixtures against Georgia, scoring 2+ goals in each of their last five. Last year, Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick to lead Spain to a 7-1 win in Euro qualifying, while the following match saw Spain prevail 3-1 in Valladolid.
It should come as no surprise that Spain finds itself as the overwhelming favorite, and as such, I’m going to have to get a bit creative to get the best value parlay bet from this match. Spain’s last three matches vs. Georgia saw them win with at least a two-goal cushion, and I’m betting on that trend to continue. If you’re planning to bet on Euro 2024, go with Spain’s handicap at -120.
Best Prop Bet: Spain to Enter Halftime on Top
In contrast to Georgia, who were forced to pour every ounce of sweat and blood into coming away with a victory vs. Portugal, Spain was able to take their foot off the gas in their final match vs. Albania. Luis de la Fuente rested the first-choice XI and still came away with a comfortable 1-0 win, with Ferran Torres breaking the deadlock within 13 minutes. All in all, this rotation should prove handy for Spain, and it could very well set the foundation for another routine victory.
Spain has entered halftime with the lead in five of their last six fixtures, and I’m backing this one to continue that trend. At a -172 betting line, there’s more than enough reason to put your money on Spain heading into the interval with the advantage.

Questions of the Day
Which player is likely to score in the Georgia vs Spain match?
Ferran Torres has scored in each of his three meetings with Georgia, and after finding the back of the net vs. Albania, he’s more than capable of adding to his tally in Cologne.
Which team is likely to keep a clean sheet in the Georgia vs Spain match?
Spain is yet to concede in the Euros, and I like their chances of continuing that streak vs. Georgia.
