Spurs Chasing Champions League Slot in English Premier League Fixture 28

Toffees Eye Upset

Prior to the start of the season, Tottenham looked like a tempting dark horse to win the Premier League title. Twenty-five games later, the Spurs are no longer in the race. However, they are still fighting for a Champions League ticket.

We’re talking about a very inconsistent team. They can go from beating league-leading Manchester City to losing against Burnley. Precisely, that’s why Everton has a chance despite having lost six of its last seven games. The Toffees are offering a +450 price in the sportsbook.

Tottenham Up and Down

Two weeks ago, Tottenham pulled off the upset against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium. The Spurs won 3-2 with Harry Kane as the Man of the Match after scoring two goals. Later, they lost 1-0 to Burnley and crushed Leeds United 4-0.

Most recently, they were eliminated from the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Middlesbrough. That’s Tottenham for you, a very inconsistent team despite having a lethal duo in Kane and Son Heung-Min. Kane has scored 15 goals in all competitions while Heung-Min has scored 11.

Tottenham shouldn’t be suffering this much to finish the season in the top four. Getting eliminated from the FA Cup could help with that, though. Now, the Spurs can fully focus on chasing Manchester United, currently sitting in fourth place. They are five points behind the Red Devils but have played two fewer games.

If the Spurs want to make it, they need to start playing better at home. They own a 7-1-4 home record and are 6-2-5 on the road. They deserve to be the soccer betting favorites at -155, but playing at home has nothing to do with it. Manager Antonio Conte’s balanced mindset is the main reason. The team completely changed since the Italian took over.

No major injuries to report here. Tottenham’s predicted lineup: Hugo Lloris; Davinson Sanchez, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies; Steven Bergwijn, Harry Winks, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg; Lucas Moura, Son Heung-Min, Harry Kane.

Everton: No Margin for Error

Everton can no longer afford to lose. The Toffees are sitting in 17th place with 22 points, only one more than Burnley. Most recently, regarding the EPL, they put up a good fight against Manchester City and only lost 1-0. Phil Foden had to save the day with a late goal.

Midweek, they advanced in the FA Cup after eliminating Boreham Wood. The game ended 2-0 thanks to Salomon Rondon, who scored both goals. Boreham Wood can’t compare to Tottenham, but winning always brings a positive attitude into the locker room.

The Toffees aren’t much different from the Spurs. Yes, they’re sitting in 17th place, but they managed to draw against Chelsea and Manchester United. Plus, they defeated Arsenal. On the other hand, they lost to last-place Norwich.

The thing is that there’s still hope, especially after the front office made a major effort to bring in reinforcements. Donny van de Beek seems to be the piece they were missing at midfield. The former Manchester United player has very good chemistry with Demarai Gray and Richarlison, the team’s top scorers.

If you include the Toffees in your soccer picks with a $100 bet, you could win $550.

No major injuries to report here either. Everton’s projected lineup: Jordan Pickford; Seamus Coleman, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, Jonjoe Kenny; Allan Marques, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Donny van de Beek; Alex Iwobi, Anthony Gordon, Richarlison.

Tottenham vs Everton Head to Head

  • Previous Matches: 181
  • Tottenham Victories: 68 (280 goals)
  • Everton Victories: 56 (237 goals)
  • Draws: 57

The first meeting between these two ended with a goalless draw. Everton finished the game with only 10 players after Mason Holgate got a red card. Believe it or not, Tottenham finished with zero shots on target.

I don’t think that’s going to happen again. In fact, the total went over in six of the last 10 games between the two.

 Tottenham vs Everton Prediction

Tottenham is the better team, but not much better. Everton already showed that it can compete with the powerhouses and I don’t think this time will be the exception. With Kane, Heung-Min, Richarlison and Rondon on the field, I expect nothing less than a goal-fest. In other words, include the total going over in your betting online ticket.

Score Prediction: Tottenham 2, Everton 2

Pick: Over 2½ goals (-130)
