Expect Goals in Greece vs Netherlands Matchup
Teams Collide in Euro 2024 Qualifying
Prior to the start of the Euro 2024 qualifiers, France and the Netherlands were heavily favored in the Euro Cup odds to finish in the top two of Group B. That hasn’t changed. Les Bleus are offering a -10000 price and the Clockwork Orange is -335.
However, Greece could turn things upside down by winning at least one point against the Netherlands in Eindhoven on Thursday.
Greece is second in Group B and already made France suffer much more than expected. By the way, the visitors are offering a +620 price in the sportsbook.
Netherlands Strong Pick in Must-Win at Home
The Netherlands began the road to the UEFA Euro 2024 with a humiliating defeat against France. Les Blues won 4-0 with Kylian Mbappe as Player of the Match after scoring a brace. The Flying Dutchmen are way better than that, especially because they won possession with 59 percent and took five shots on goal. It just wasn’t their day.
Most recently, regarding the Euro qualifiers, the Netherlands defeated Gibraltar 3-0. Memphis Depay scored the opener in the first half, while Nathan Ake sealed the deal with a brace in the second. Curiously enough, Ake is a center-back.
That’s the thing with the Clockwork Orange – we’re talking about a team with talent to spare. Donyell Malen, Cody Gakpo, Davy Klaassen, Tyrell Malacia, and Daley Blind came off the bench against Gibraltar. And there’s more because Marten de Roon and Ryan Gravenberch didn’t even play.
Considering that, and the fact that they won four of their last five games at home with 15-1 aggregate, they totally deserve to come in as the betting online favorites at -225. On the other hand, the handicap is set at -1 with a -107 price. To win a bet involving the handicap, you would need the Clockwork Orange to win by at least two goals.
Greece is Playing Well on the Road
Unlike the Netherlands, Greece started the road to Euro 2024 with a victory. The Blues and Whites defeated Gibraltar 3-0 on the road. Later, they fulfilled their role as favorites in the soccer lines against Ireland at home with a 2-1 victory.
Most recently, they almost upset France in Paris, but ended up losing 1-0 due to a goal from the penalty spot. Playing with 10 players in the last 20 minutes of the match didn’t help. Konstantinos Mavropanos was sent off and won’t be able to play in Eindhoven.
Even with Mavropanos out, Greece remains a tempting underdog, especially at odds that give you the chance of winning $620 for every $100 wagered. Here’s something to make it even more tempting: Greece hasn’t lost by two goals or more since October 2021. In other words, we’re talking about a feisty underdog.
That being said, Greece at +1 with a -123 price also looks like a good deal. No need for Greece to win the match for you to win a bet involving the handicap. A draw would be enough.
Clockwork Orange in Control of Series
These two have collided nine times. Netherlands leads the series 7-1-1. As if that wasn’t enough, the Clockwork Orange has scored 20 goals and only conceded three. The thing is that they met for the last time in 2016.
A lot has changed since then but not the fact that the home side remains a high-scoring team. Regardless of the result, they scored two or more goals in each of their last seven matches.
