Tempting Underdog on Sight!
Jose Mourinho didn’t lead AS Roma to the Italian Serie A title. However, the Yellow and Reds will play a continental Final for the first time since the 1990-91 season. Plus, they’re still in the race for a ticket to the UEFA Europa League Group Stage.
I think that’s enough to consider them a tempting online gambling underdog for Monday’s game against Fiorentina, especially at +195. The Violets are also in the race for a ticket to the UEL Group Stage, so you can expect quite a show!
Fiorentina Running Out of Options
Losing its last three games wasn’t in Fiorentina’s plans, but it happened. First, the Violets lost 2-1 against Salernitana. Then, 4-0 against Udinese. Most recently, 1-0 to AC Milan. They were heavy favorites against Salernitana and Udinese.
As if that wasn’t enough, they also lost to Juventus in the Semifinals of the Coppa Italia. Therefore, the only way for Fiorentina to qualify for the UEL is to finish in fifth or sixth place in the Italian Serie A. Right now, they’re sitting in seventh place, three points behind AS Roma and Lazio.
Losing Dusan Vlahovic in the last transfer window was a low blow for the Violets. They haven’t found a proper substitute. To give a better idea, Vlahovic scored 17 goals with Fiorentina prior to the transfer. Right now, Lucas Torreira is the team’s top scorer with five goals.
The Violets can get easily inspired less than a month ago, they visited Napoli (third place) and won 3-2. That’s the team’s version that must jump into the field on Monday. That version of the team is the reason why they dominate the soccer lines at +145. There’s also the fact they’ve been considerably better when playing at home thanks to an 11-2-4 record (6-3-9 on the road).
AS Roma Highly Motivated
As mentioned before, AS Roma will play a continental Final for the first time in 30 years. Last Thursday, the Yellow and Reds defeated Leicester City 1-0 in the second leg of the Conference League Semifinals. Now, they’ll face Feyenoord in the Grand Finale on May 25.
That’s the reason why you can expect a highly motivated team. Especially after drawing 0-0 to Bologna in its last Italian Serie A game. Bologna is sitting in thirteenth place. In other words, the Yellow and Reds should have won.
Another reason to consider including AS Roma in your soccer picks is Tammy Abraham. The English striker has had a great season, enough to be the team’s top scorer with 15 goals. He scored the lone goal in the second leg of the Conference League Semis.
The Yellow and Reds’ numbers on the road aren’t the best, 7-3-7, but they only lost one of their last seven games on the road. And it was against Inter Milan. Plus, they scored in all seven games and finished with a clean sheet twice. That’s what I call an improvement.
Defeating Fiorentina would allow them to keep depending only on themselves to finish in fifth place. Last season, they finished seventh, so that would be another improvement.

AS Roma won the first meeting between the two 3-1. Bartlomiej Dragowski, Fiorentina’s goalkeeper, got a red card 17 minutes into the game. That didn’t help the Violets. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Jordan Veretout (twice) scored for the Yellow and Reds.
Fiorentina only won one of its last 10 meetings with AS Roma. However, if there’s something you can expect from these two, it’s goals. The total went over in seven of those games.

Fiorentina vs AS Roma Prediction
Fiorentina was very kind to agree to play on Monday. That gives the visitors an extra day to recover physically, however, that won’t be enough for Mourinho and company to pull off the stunner. Now, their main goal is to win the Conference League. The winner of such a competition qualifies for the UEL. Therefore, the Violets must go all-in right from the start. Winning is the only way for them to keep hope alive.
I do expect AS Roma to score, though, helping the total to go over, which is precisely my football prediction.
Score Prediction: Fiorentina 2, AS Roma 1
