Last season, Fiorentina finished seventh in the Italian Serie A. Therefore, expectations around the Gigliati for the new campaign were high. Those expectations increased after they debuted with a victory, but they haven’t been able to win since.
On the other hand, Juventus remain undefeated, enough to come in as the slight betting online favorites. The Bianconeri are led by Dusan Vlahovic, who already is the league’s top scorer. The Serbian used to play for Fiorentina, meaning this isn’t just any other game.
Fiorentina: New Sheriff in Town
Losing Vlahovic was a low blow for Fiorentina. In the last season and a half with the Gigliati, the Serbian scored 41 goals in all competitions. Last season, despite playing the second half for Juventus, he finished as the team’s top scorer.
This season, they expect to get similar numbers from Luka Jovic, who arrived in Florence after three disappointing seasons with Real Madrid. Prior to moving to Madrid, Jovic took Europe by storm after scoring 27 goals in the 2018-19 season while he was playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Jovic was one of the scorers in Fiorentina’s 3-2 victory over Cremonese. Giacomo Bonaventura and Rolando Mandragora also scored. Since then, they’re 0-2-1. They drew 0-0 to Empoli and Napoli and lost 1-0 to Udinese. The goalless draw against Napoli wasn’t bad because the Azzurri were on fire. Before facing Fiorentina, they had scored nine goals in two games.
To be fair, I think the Gigliati were more focused on qualifying for the Group Stage of the Conference League, and they did after defeating Twente by a 2-1 aggregate. Now, it’s time to focus on the domestic tournament because losing could leave them on the verge of the relegation zone.
Fiorentina is offering a +205 price to win straight up. It won’t be easy to find a more tempting online gambling underdog. They haven’t lost in their last four home games. Plus, they finished with a clean sheet three times.
Juventus: New Dynamic Duo
As if Vlahovic wasn’t enough, Juventus managed to sign Arkadiusz Milik on a loan from Olympique Marseille. Last Wednesday, the Bianconeri defeated Spezia 2-0 with goals scored by … Vlahovic and Milik. I’m telling you, they’ve the potential to become the best-attacking duo in the league.
“Dusan can still improve in the box and in his technique, and he is already doing it. He is also very good at taking free-kicks, especially from medium range. Arek Milik has great qualities, he scored a wonderful goal,” said manager Massimiliano Allegri after the game.
Overall, Vlahovic has scored four goals, enough to lead the league’s scoring chart. He scored a brace in the opener against Sassuolo, which they ended up winning 3-0, and one more against AS Roma in a match that finished 1-1. The Vecchia Signora also drew 0-0 to Sampdoria. That’s not acceptable against a team sitting in 18th place.
Here’s another reason why that’s unacceptable: Juventus have talent to spare. Alex Sandro, Filip Kostic, Angel Di Maria and Milik didn’t start against Spezia. Weston McKennie and Daniele Rugani didn’t play at all. As if that wasn’t enough, the Bianconeri recently signed Leandro Paredes on a loan from PSG, who’ll be available for Saturday’s match.
As mentioned before, the visitors dominate the soccer lines. They’re offering a +145 price. Considering all of the above, that’s also a very tempting deal.

Fiorentina vs Juventus Prediction
I’m a huge fan of Jovic, but Fiorentina’s depth can’t be compared to Juventus’. Plus, the Bianconeri roster is much more experienced. That being said, I do believe the Gigliati will put up a good fight, enough to make the over (2½, +105) worth considering. However, the visitors at +145 is too good a deal not to take. They only lost two of their last 14 road games. Go ahead and include the Vecchia Signora in your soccer picks. After all, we’re also talking about one of the favorites to dethrone AC Milan.
