Frankfurt Faltering at Home

Eintracht Frankfurt’s last Bundesliga match before the March international break finished in a 0-0 draw vs. RB Leipzig. Coming into their match last Saturday with last place Greuther Furth, they were -350 favorites but proceedings also finished scoreless. It hasn’t been a great season for last year’s fifth place team in the Bundesliga and they’ve been a pick to avoid at home for betting online.

In this season’s Europa League, Frankfurt won just one of four matches at Deutsche Bank Park and lost to Real Betis in 90 minutes in the second leg of the round of 16. However, a Betis own goal off a free kick in extra time gifted Frankfurt a quarter finals berth. In the Bundesliga, they’ve won just four of 14 matches in Frankfurt, greatly harming their chances for European qualification next season.

Frankfurt boasts some talented players on their roster. Midfielders Filip Kostic and Jesper Lindstrom can make things happen and striker Rafael Borre is a regular for Colombia.

Barcelona Getting Back to Their Best

Barcelona extended their unbeaten run to 13 in all competitions as they defeated a shorthanded Sevilla 1-0 on Sunday. Pedri’s second half goal was enough to fire Barça to their sixth straight win in La Liga. Barcelona is in the best form of Xavi’s tenure and is a matchup no team looks forward to. They were at their best with a 4-0 win over rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu just before the international break.

They’ve covered the spread in four of their last six league matches and have been one of the best Soccer picks in La Liga the last few months. Barça also made up for a disappointing scoreless draw at home vs. Galatasaray in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 with a 2-1 comeback win in Turkey. They’re undefeated at 2-0-2 in four UEL knockout matchups but are just 1-3 ATS with expectations now higher for the Catalan club.

Xavi doesn’t have Dani Alves at his disposal in the Europa League due to roster constraints, while Sergino Dest and Luuk de Jong are expected to miss this match.

Frankfurt vs Barcelona Prediction

The online gambling odds seem to be giving Eintracht Frankfurt a fair deal of respect as they’re only ½-goal underdogs despite struggling at home recently. Barcelona is viewed as more likely to cover the spread at -145 to Frankfurt’s +115 and that should come as no surprise given their excellent form. This is a competition Xavi and Barcelona will want to win to add silverware to an otherwise forgettable season and they’ve won nine of their last ten matches in all competitions.

I am a bit surprised Barcelona isn’t heavier favorites in this matchup as their -145 moneyline implies under a 60 percent chance of victory. Frankfurt are listed at +350 while a draw seems to have decent value at +325.

The total at O/U three seems about right. Frankfurt have scored just two goals in their last five 90-minute matches at home and it wouldn’t be shocking if Barcelona managed a shutout win. This should be a reasonably close match, and the props offer considerable value. Rather than taking Barcelona at -145, Barça and under 3½ at +180 is a solid pick.

Pick: Barcelona and Total Under 3½ (+180)
