Frankfurt vs West Ham Predictions, Game Preview, Live Stream, Odds & Picks

Second Leg of the UEFA Europa League Semifinals

Frankfurt Did It Again

We predicted a draw for the first leg, which would have been a great result for Frankfurt. Nevertheless, the German side went beyond expectations and snatched the three points with a 2-1 victory.

Now, all the Eagles need to advance is a draw, but not so fast. West Ham won three of its previous five UEFA Europa League games on the road. That makes the Hammers a tempting soccer betting underdog, especially at +180.

Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and Europa League odds for Frankfurt vs West Ham. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Frankfurt Doesn’t Care About the Bundesliga

If you had doubts about Frankfurt’s priorities, just take a look at the Bundesliga standings. The Eagles are sitting in eleventh place after not winning in their last six games. Most recently, they lost 2-0 to Bayer Leverkusen. As expected, several usual starters got some rest.

Things have been completely different when it comes to the continental tournament. The Eagles are the only team that remains unbeaten thanks to a 6-5-0 record. Curiously enough, five of those victories were on the road.

Daichi Kamada is one of the main reasons for Frankfurt’s success. The Japanese is among the tournament’s top scorers with five goals. Filip Kostic also deserves some praise. He leads the team in assists with three and has scored three goals as well.

The Eagles are offering a +145 price in the soccer odds to win straight up. Their previous two home games, against Real Betis (Round of 16) and FC Barcelona (Round of 8), ended 1-1. As mentioned before, that would be enough for them to advance. The draw is offering a +255 price.

History is also on Frankfurt’s side. The Eagles advanced in 22 of 25 two-game series after winning the first leg.

Not Looking Good for West Ham

The last team to advance to the Grand Finale after losing the first leg of the Semifinals was Liverpool (2015-16). The good news for the Hammers is that they can send the series to overtime/penalties with a 1-0 victory. That’s right, the away goal rule doesn’t apply.

West Ham also lost its previous game, 2-1 against Arsenal. Like his colleague, manager David Moyes rested several usual starters, including Michail Antonio and Thomas Soucek. Winning the UEL is also the Hammers’ main goal.

West Ham has been a more productive soccer pick when playing on the road. Most recently, the Hammers crushed Lyon 3-0. They also defeated Dinamo Zagreb (2-0) and Rapid Vienna (2-0).

The Hammers’ attacking unit has what it takes to give the team a chance. Antonio has scored 11 goals in all competitions, while Jarrod Bowen has scored 15. Last but least, Mohamed Benrahma has scored nine. Any of them can tip the scales towards the Hammers.

Defensively, the visitors know what to expect: “We need to be ready for everything. We need to be careful of their counter-attacks and set-pieces. They have big quality in their crosses, so it will be a similar game to the one at London Stadium,” Vladimir Coufal said during a press conference.

Frankfurt vs West Ham Head-to-Head

  • Previous Matches: 3

Frankfurt started the first leg with a bang! Ansgar Knauff scored one minute into the game. Even so, West Ham managed to even the score 20 minutes later with a goal from Antonio. After that, the Hammers made sure to control possession, but it wasn’t enough. Kamada scored the winning goal only nine minutes into the second half and the Eagles never looked back.

Frankfurt vs West Ham Prediction

Again, all Frankfurt needs is a draw, something they’re used to. The Eagles managed to draw in four of their previous five home games. Both teams scored in all five games, something that probably happens again. You can expect the total to go over (2½ -115), after all we’re talking about two of the top-scoring teams. Frankfurt averages 1.7 goals per game, while West Ham averages 1.6.

That being said, my betting online prediction is a highly entertaining draw, meaning Frankfurt will advance to a UEFA competition final for the first time since 1980.

Score Prediction: Frankfurt 2, West Ham 2
