Two of the most entertaining Serie A teams, Sassuolo and Verona, face each other this weekend. They are separated by just one point in the standings while in-form AC Milan plays host to struggling Spezia, trying to make it four domestic league wins in a row. AC Milan vs. Spezia: Easy Home Win
After a two-week break that was a much-needed reprieve from the stress that comes with a Serie A title fight, AC Milan held off a spirited challenge from Roma to secure a 3-1 win. Rossoneri boss Stefano Pioli named an under-strength side due to plenty of injuries and Zlatan Ibrahimovic started on the bench.
A great overall performance saw them assert their physical and tactical dominance over their rivals, and last weekend AC Milan doubled that up with a convincing 3-0 win on the road over Venezia. King Zlatan scored with two minutes into the game while Theo Hernandez’s brace completed the victory.
They are looking to make it four wins in a row and keep the pressure on city rivals and league-leading Inter, which is playing host to another struggling team in Spezia. It’s important to note that AC Milan has no problems against inferior sides who are fighting to avoid relegation. They covered the spread against Salernitana, Genoa, Cagliari and Venezia, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
At home, they won seven of their 10 fixtures and scored 19 goals in the process. If you’re betting online, you should start backing AC Milan. Their fighting spirit is amazing and their eagerness to go toe-to-toe with Inter for the Scudetto is unreal.
They won the reverse fixture 2-1 on the road, with Brahim Diaz scoring the winning goal. AC Milan announced Fikayo Tomori has recovered from COVID and will return to group training on Tuesday. They are also expecting Davide Calabria and Alessio Romagnoli to be ready on time for this clash.
Pierre Kalulu and Matteo Gabbia started Milan’s last two games as center defenders, and they did an amazing job.
The Rossoneri return to the pitch on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup against Genoa. Stefano Pioli is expected to rest many of his key players and have them fresh and fully fit for Monday’s clash against Spezia. AC Milan is too strong for Spezia and we expect them to cover the spread and win our parlay.
Pick: AC Milan -1½ (-105)
Sassuolo vs. Verona: High-Scoring Affair
We cashed part of our Serie A parlay last weekend as AC Milan destroyed Venezia 3-0 on the road, covering the spread while Inter Milan beat Lazio 2-1, securing its top spot and giving us a push for our over three goals in the match bet. This weekend, we are going for a full win with two great selections from our favorite European league.
Serie A remains one of the most entertaining leagues in the world as all the teams are playing on the front foot in trying to score as many goals as possible. Not just that, but most of the teams are fully packed with talented players, a great combo between experience and skills.
Sassuolo is one of our favorites teams to bet on no matter its opponents. They are playing Verona on Saturday and once again we expect goals between two teams with amazing attacking firepower. They are priced at +125 on the three-way moneyline according to the latest soccer odds, but we’re skipping the winners’ market because there’s plenty of value elsewhere.
The only issue with Sassuolo is its goal conversion. Two rounds ago against Genoa, they recorded 28 goal attempts and seven shots on target, and they scored just once in a 1-1 draw.
Last weekend, they destroyed Empoli 5-1 on the road on14 shots on target and 25 goal attempts. They are creating many chances in each game and, if we are talking only about the xG (expected goals), they should be in the top four but their conversion rate is low.
On the other side, despite sitting 13th in the standings, Verona is one of the teams to watch. They have Giovanni Simeone, who’s sitting third in the Serie A top scorers’ chart with 12 goals netted in 21 rounds. They scored 37 goals, more than Juventus or Fiorentina and equal with third-place Napoli.
They produce high-scoring games, but they struggle to keep clean sheets, conceding 35 goals this term (third-worst defense in top 14).
Sassuolo beat Verona 3-2 in the reverse match back in August 2021 and three of the last four mutual encounters between the two teams saw at least five goals on the scoresheet. We expect another classic Serie A match filled with goals, cards and drama. Always bet on goals in your soccer picks and parlays when the two teams go head to head.
