Griezmann To Lead Atleti Past Almeria

After heading into December on the back of four straight wins, Atletico Madrid were rendered toothless in their 1-0 defeat to Barcelona, failing to score for the first time since September 16 in a 3-0 loss to Valencia.

They sit fourth in the table, with a game in hand on every top-half side, three points above Athletic Club, three behind Barcelona, and they’ll be looking to bounce back on Sunday as they take on Almeria, the only winless team in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

There are plenty of reasons to add an Atleti win to your La Liga betting predictions, but the No. 1 incentive: their stellar form at home. Atleti and Antoine Griezmann have not dropped points at home since February 4 in a 1-1 draw to Getafe.

November saw Diego Simeone’s side thrash Celtic 6-0, beat Villarreal 3-1, and edge Mallorca 1-0, before traveling to Feyenoord and pulling off a 3-1 victory courtesy of two own goals.

After finding the back of the net in three straight matches, Antoine Griezmann has now been kept scoreless in his last two, but the odds are in his favor as he looks to close the distance on Jude Bellingham in the Pichichi rice. With 9 goals, the Frenchman sits one goal above Gerard Moreno and Borja Mayoral and two behind Bellingham in the top-scorer race.

The first time he faced Almeria at home as an Atleti player came on February 21, 2015, as Mario Mandzukic opened the scoring from the penalty spot before setting up both of Griezmann’s goals at the Estadio Vicente Calderon.

Eight years later, he scored a brace to lead Atleti to a 2-1 win at the Wanda Metropolitano, and he’s a surefire addition to your La Liga player prop bets.

Almeria would narrowly survive the drop by a point in their first La Liga season in eight years, but today, they sit bottom of the table with four points, three behind Granadam and seven from safety.

The Vegas La Liga sportsbooks are showing zero confidence in Almeria picking up their first point away from home since a 1-1 draw at Cadiz on August 26, with the betting lines backing them to win at -460. It also appears they don’t have as much confidence in the Frenchman taking his tally into double figures. If you were to place a $60 bet on Atletico winning and Griezmann scoring, you’d stand to win a profit of $56.07.

Don’t overthink this: when it comes to betting on Spanish soccer this weekend, Atleti winning at home is a guaranteed slam dunk, whilst Griezmann has scored in five of Atleti’s last six matches, leading the Rojiblancos in a genuine four-horse race for the title. We’re backing the Frenchman to find the back of the net and lead Atleti to an 11th league win in 15.
