Wolfsburg will look to continue its undefeated start to the season as it takes on Hoffenheim on Saturday morning. Wolfsburg has managed to climb to second place in the Bundesliga through its stifling defense.
Hoffenheim has struggled against Wolfsburg in recent seasons. As such, Wolfsburg has a slightly better chance to win than Hoffenheim according to the latest soccer lines.

Head to Head
These teams split the season series in 2020-21 as both Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim won at home by a 2-1 scoreline. Recent scores and odds reflect that Wolfsburg has been a better pick over the last few seasons. Wolfsburg is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings.
Hoffenheim Win Drought
The season started off in impressive fashion for Hoffenheim. Following a 3-2 win in the DFB-Pokal, the Baden-Württemberg club demolished Augsburg 4-0 in its Bundesliga opener.
Since then, Hoffenheim is 0-2-2 and has been shut out in its last two matches. Just a few seasons removed from Champions League qualification, Hoffenheim finished in a disappointing 11th place last season and has once again started off rather slowly.
Hoffenheim’s problems in recent seasons have been mostly on the defensive end. The club kept just six clean sheets in 34 Bundesliga games last season and allowed 1.59 goals per game. However, goalkeeper Oliver Baumann has already kept two clean sheets through five Bundesliga matches, including last weekend in a draw vs Arminia Bielefeld.
Croatian forward Andrej Kramarić hasn’t scored a goal yet but he has been one of the Bundesliga’s best creators. He is tied for the league lead, with four assists on eight total Hoffenheim goals. Kramarić will be relied on heavily again as the 30-year-old scored nearly 40 percent of Hoffenheim’s goals last year.
Hoffenheim wasn’t a big spender in the transfer window but did pick up some key players for free. Defensive midfielder Sebastian Rudy should play a big part this season after moving over from Schalke while former Greuther Fürth defender David Raum has started each Bundesliga match.
Wolfsburg’s Surprise Start
Dutch forward Wout Weghorst got on the scoresheet once again as Wolfsburg drew with Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 last weekend. After a 4-0 start, it marked the first time this season that Wolfsburg dropped points and gave up a goal in open play.
Even after conceding last weekend, Wolfsburg is tied for the fewest goals conceded in the Bundesliga. Die Wolfe have been one of the best soccer picks in the early stages.
Wolfsburg returned to the Champions League this year after a six-season drought. Lille and 10-man Wolfsburg couldn’t get anything going in the opener, which finished in a scoreless draw. We may see more than a fair share of 0-0 games from Wolfsburg as Weghorst is relied on heavily to score goals.
He’s done a solid job, finding the net three times in five matches, but Wolfsburg will need a consistent secondary goal-scoring threat to emerge. Perhaps Lukas Nmecha can be that guy. The 22-year-old German forward has scored twice in just 159 minutes of play after joining from Manchester City in the summer.
It might be far-fetched to think that Wolfsburg can compete with Bayern Munich for a Bundesliga title but it wouldn’t be shocking if Die Wolfe improve on a fourth place finish from 2020-21.
At +145 to win in the BetUS sportsbook, Wolfsburg has good value vs Hoffenheim. This is a Wolfsburg team that won its opening four matches, including two on the road, and had the ball in the net in stoppage time vs Frankfurt.
Weghorst’s header, which deflected off of Nmecha, was eventually ruled offsides but Wolfsburg easily could have been a perfect 5-0.
Kramarić hasn’t been scoring for Hoffenheim and it has coincided with mediocre form. Take the defensively dominant Wolfsburg to win at these favorable odds.
