Inter Milan Refuses to Give Up Lead

Inter Milan didn’t start the first half of the season on the right foot. However, they closed it with a seven-game winning streak. They recently opened the second half with another victory, enough to remain atop the standings.
AC Milan, Napoli and Atalanta also won in the last fixture to keep in the running for the title. It’s time to check how our soccer betting predictions did and what comes next.
Italian Serie A Breakdown
One Game Less
As I mentioned before, Inter Milan started 2022 with a victory. They defeated Lazio 2-1 with goals from Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar. Beating Lazio is never a walk in the park. However, they finished four more shots on target and won possession with 61 percent.
That victory allowed Inter to regain first place with one point advantage over AC Milan. The thing is that the Nerazzurri have played one fewer game, meaning their advantage could increase up to four points.
AC Milan is also having a great season. They better because that’s why Zlatan Ibrahimovic stayed. Precisely, Ibrahimovic opened the can in a 3-0 victory over Venezia. Later, Theo Hernandez scored twice.
Napoli and Atalanta, sitting in third and fourth place, also won. Napoli suffered more than expected to beat Sampdoria 1-0. On the other hand, Atalanta crushed Udinese 6-2.
Things could drastically change this weekend. Atalanta will play host to Inter as the betting online underdog at +190. If they pull off the upset, AC Milan could climb to the top. The Rossoneri will face Spezia as huge favorites -325.
On the Rise
Juventus is coming. The Vecchia Signora hasn’t lost in its last six games and now sits in fifth place, 11 points behind Inter Milan. Before you laugh, there are plenty of games left.
In the last fixture, Juventus defeated AS Roma 4-3. It was a close game, AS Roma started winning, but Juve managed to turn things around in the second half. Curiously enough, the winning goal was scored by a defender.

Juventus will try to keep its streak going by beating Udinese on Saturday. The Vecchia Signora is offering a -265 price. Jose Mourinho and AS Roma will try to bounce back by beating Cagliari. They control the odds board with a -270 price.

Enough about the top. Let’s check the bottom. Salernitana and Cagliari won their last game, but it wasn’t enough to get out of the relegation zone. Both teams won 2-1, with Salernitana beating Hellas Verona, and Cagliari edging Sampdoria.
Genoa is also in the relegation zone thanks to a 1-9-11 record. Its only victory was in September. Most recently, they lost 1-0 to Spezia.
All three will be underdogs in Fixture 22. Salernitana will play host to Lazio, while Cagliari and Genoa will hit the road to face AS Roma and Fiorentina, respectively. No, I don’t see an upset in any of these games. The thing is that those three teams are running out of time. If they don’t start winning soon, it will be ciao! Will not see you in Serie B!
The Young vs. the Veteran
Fiorentina isn’t sitting in the top five, but that hasn’t prevented Dusan Vlahovic from being the league’s top scorer. The 21-year-old has scored 16 goals. That’s more than Salernitana has scored in total.
Vlahovic is followed by veteran Ciro Immobile with 15 goals. Lazio’s player is still the favorite to win the Golden Boot race in the sportsbook.
Yes, Inter Milan does have a representative in the league’s top scorers. Lautaro Martinez has scored 11 goals. If Inter remains on a roll, Martinez has a good chance of winning the Golden Boot.
