Serie A Returns After Short Break
Eight Points Separate Top Four Teams in League
We saw some Italian Serie A action for the last time on Dec. 22. Napoli was the only top-four team that didn’t win its last game of 2021. That being said, I can assure you that the title race is more interesting than ever.
Fixture 20 begins on Thursday. It’s time to take a look at the best matches alongside the latest soccer odds for the Italian Serie A.

Italian Serie A Breakdown
Hot Streak
Inter Milan had a rocky start, but the reigning champions managed to turn things around in the last two months. We’re talking about the only team that won its last eight games. That streak includes beating Napoli and AS Roma.
Most recently, they suffered to beat Torino. You can’t win a major European title without a little luck, right? Lautaro Martinez, Edin Dzeko, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella are having great seasons.
Inter will face Bologna in the next fixture as the betting online favorite at -185. I think that price should be higher, Bologna lost three of its last five games.
AC Milan and Napoli are sitting in second and third place with 42 and 39 points, respectively. The Rossoneri only lost one of its last five games, beating Empoli 4-2 in their last match. Keep in mind that Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic didn’t score. That’s how good this team is.
On the other hand, Napoli lost three of its last five games. They lost to Spezia, Empoli and Atalanta. Curiously enough, they beat AC Milan, proving they have enough talent to truly compete. They just need to be more consistent.
For AC Milan, AS Roma comes next. For Napoli, Juventus comes next. AC Milan controls the odds board thanks to a -105 price, while Napoli comes in as a very tempting underdog at +315.
On the Rise
Speaking of Juventus, the Vecchia Signora also had a rocky start, but finished the year with a 4-1-0 record. They won their last two games by 2-0 scores and allowed only one goal in their last five domestic matches.
Moise Kean and Federico Bernardeschi are each having a great season. In fact, they’ve been so good that Juventus is thinking about transferring Alvaro Morata. Rumor has it that Barcelona is very interested and a deal could happen pretty soon.
Juventus is sitting in fifth place with 34 points, four points behind Atalanta. Finishing in the top four is the key to play in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Not Doing Well
Genoa, Cagliari and Salernitana didn’t win any of their last five games. No matter what happens midweek, all three teams will remain in the relegation zone, but it’s time to start winning.
All three would have to pull off an upset, because the Las Vegas odds aren’t on their side. Salernitana is +250 against Venezia, while Cagliari +340 against Sampdoria and Genoa +420 against Sassuolo.
Honestly, I don’t recommend including any in your soccer picks. If you’re looking for an underdog, go with Empoli against Lazio at +400.
Surprising Top Scorer
Fiorentina isn’t sitting in the top five, but that hasn’t prevented Dusan Vlahovic from having a great season. He leads the Italian Serie A scoring chart with 16 goals, three more than Ciro Immobile from Lazio. Vlahovic is only 21 years old.
Giovanni Simeone, son of manager Diego Simeone, is also having a great season. He plays for Hellas Verona and has scored 12 goals. Don’t be surprised if both move to a better team, sooner than later.
Inter Milan is represented by Lautaro Martinez, who has scored 11 goals. If Inter keeps the pace, Martinez will have a good chance to win the Golden Boot.
