When Cristiano Ronaldo left, many thought Juventus wouldn’t miss him. Well, the Bianconeri are sitting in seventh place in Serie A and even Sampdoria (15th place) has scored more goals than them.
Things are starting to turn around, though. They haven’t lost in their last four games and could finish the year in fifth place. They’ll say goodbye to 2021 by playing host to Cagliari on Tuesday as huge soccer betting favorites at -500. But don’t underestimate the visitors since a victory could get them out of the relegation zone.
Juventus Aiming to Finish Year in Top Five
Juventus on the Rise
Last season, Juventus only won the Italian Cup. That’s why the front office asked head coach Massimiliano Allegri to return. He led them to five consecutive Serie A titles between 2014 and 2019. It has not been easy, but the Vecchia Signora is finally starting to rise.
Domestically, they won three of their last four games. They finished with a clean sheet in each of those victories. The most recent was a 2-0 win against Bologna with goals from Alvaro Morata and Juan Cuadrado. Overall, only Napoli and Inter Milan have allowed fewer goals.
Regarding the Champions League, they won Group H despite getting crushed by Chelsea in London. Don’t forget that Chelsea is the reigning UCL champion, so finishing atop is something to feel very proud about.
“That’s nice, but we need to focus on the next one against Cagliari. Then we have to make sure we pick up more points in the second half of the season. We’ve dropped too many this season, especially against the smaller teams,” said defender Matthijs de Ligt to the press.
He’s not wrong. Curiously enough, Juventus has lost more games at home than on the road. They’re 4-1-3 at Juventus Stadium and 5-3-2 when playing away from it. They still deserve to dominate the Las Vegas odds because momentum is on their side.
Juventus’ predicted lineup: Wojciech Szczesny; Juan Cuadrado, Leonardo Bonucci, Matthijs de Ligt, Alex Sandro; Weston McKennie, Adrien Rabiot, Manuel Locatelli; Federico Bernardeschi, Alvaro Morata, Moise Kean.
Cagliari Must Win
Cagliari has won only one game and has allowed 38 goals. It’s not looking good for them, but Spezia is only three points away. Spezia is facing Napoli, so it’s very likely that they’ll lose. That should be enough motivation for Cagliari to go all-in against Juventus.
They lost 4-0 to Udinese in their last game. Besides losing the match, they also lost Razvan Marin, who got a red card. The funny thing is that they won possession with 56 percent.
Despite the team’s recent scores and odds, striker Joao Pedro is having a fantastic year. He has scored nine goals, enough to lead the team and be among the league’s top scorers. He’s the main reason for you to consider including them in your soccer picks.
Defensively, Diego Godin is a very experienced player, but he can’t do it all. Another advantage of having a player such as Godin is that he’s a great role model for the young ones.
No major injuries to report here. Cagliari’s predicted lineup: Alessio Cragno; Luca Ceppitelli, Diego Godin, Martin Caceres, Andrea Carboni; Raoul Bellanova, Nahitan Nandez, Alberto Grassi, Dalbert Henrique; Joao Pedro, Leonardo Pavoletti.

Juventus vs Cagliari Prediction
Juventus is the better team, no doubt about it, but Cagliari won’t be easy prey. They’ll rely on the counterattack, meaning Juventus will have to work really hard in order to score. The Vecchia Signora will score and get the victory despite not having Federico Chiesa and Paulo Dybala due to injury. However, the total won’t go over.
Score Prediction: Juventus 2, Cagliari 0
