Juventus are on fire
Juventus’ fifth consecutive Serie A victory came Thursday against Verona, building on a superb victory over Derby d’Italia rivals Inter Milan. There’s no team that surrendered fewer goals than Juventus’ seven in Serie A this season. Massimiliano Allegri’s men have only seen their net breached three times in front of their fans.
Allegri’s side was bounced out of the Champions League in the group phase last month, but their domestic results have remained quite consistent. Allegri looks determined to mount a serious title challenge sooner rather than later. With their home record making them strong favorites to secure all three points here, we will include them in our soccer picks and parlays.
A short turnaround before this home match should not deter Juventus’ here as they look to overtake Lazio in the standings going into the hiatus. Allegri’s still looking at a growing injury list ahead of this game, with Mattia De Sciglio, Marley Ake, and Kaio Jorge all still sidelined. Paul Pogba and Dusan Vlahovic are edging back toward full fitness, but will probably not play.
Lazio’s had superb season
Having lost just once in their last nine Serie A matches, Lazio has risen to the lofty heights of second place. That’s eight points behind Napoli in the standings. With only three points between themselves and sixth-place Atalanta, they can’t afford to drop points.
Maurizio Sarri, sacked by Juventus despite leading them to the Scudetto in the 2019-20 campaign, appears (finally) to be getting his ideas across in the capital. Lazio has Serie A’s second-best defensive record this season, having conceded just eight goals in 14 league games. Sarri’s teams are famed for their positive style, but with top goalscorer Ciro Immobile out, the Bianocelesti have found a crucial defensive resilience of late.
If you’re soccer betting online, just avoid the winners’ market here, since we’re expecting a low-scoring affair. Sarri’s without star striker Immobile Sunday, but don’t expect to see too many changes among the starters. Luka Romero and Elseid Hysaj could see more time in this one.
Juventus vs Lazio Head-to-Head
Juventus are unbeaten in their last five head-to-head games against Lazio, winning three in the process. At least three goals were scored in five of the last seven mutual encounters between the two sides. Juventus head into this clash on the back of an excellent run of domestic form, with five straight wins in Serie A action. They have only managed more than one goal at home once across all of the competitions since the start of October.
