Sporting Kansas City is one victory away from overtaking Seattle for first place in the MLS Western Conference. They just need to defeat Los Angeles FC for the third time this season. LAFC is currently out of the Playoffs zone thanks to losing four of its last five games.
Expect plenty of goals as these two have never played a scoreless draw against each other. Also, no other team in the conference has scored more goals than Sporting Kansas City. Let’s take a look at the latest news, stats, injury reports, and soccer odds for LAFC vs Sporting KC. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

As we mentioned before, Los Angeles FC and Sporting KC already met twice this season. First, KC won 2-1 at home with goals from Alan Pulido and Daniel Salloi. LAFC finished that game with 10 players after Tristan Blackmon got a red card. Several weeks later, KC crushed LAFC 4-1 at Banc of California Stadium. Alan Pulido, Luis Martins, Daniel Salloi and Gadi Kinda were the scorers.
LAFC defeated KC for the last time in 2019, crushing them 5-1 at Children’s Mercy Park. Both teams scored in five of their six meetings. Only KC was able to finish with a clean sheet once. I told you, expect plenty of goals.
Why Bet on Los Angeles FC?
It’s getting harder to make a compelling case to include Los Angeles FC on your soccer picks. They haven’t won in their last eight games and they own the fourth-worst defensive record in the Western Conference. They’ve a very talented squad, but they also have suffered a lot from injuries.
Most recently, they showed some signs of improvement after drawing 3-3 against the Los Angeles Galaxy. They managed to get that result despite not having forwards Carlos Vela and Kwadwo Opoku due to injury.
Head coach Bob Bradley needs to figure some things out prior to this game. The list includes replacing Diego Rossi, who left to play in Turkey. Fortunately for him, several players are up to the challenge.
“I’m excited to see Brian Rodriguez step up. Cristian Arango has caught on quickly to the things we try to do, so that part is good. (Jose) Cifuentes this year in moments going forward has been very good. Then you wait to see,” said Bradley to the press.
LAFC can’t afford to lose another game – at least not right now – or they can say goodbye to the postseason. That should be motivation enough. They’re 4-5-2 when playing at home, 2-8-1 against the spread and 4-5-2 over/under.
Kim Moon-Hwan, Diego Palacios, Jose Cifuentes and Brian Rodriguez won’t be available due to the World Cup Qualifiers. Vela remains out due to injury. This is a great opportunity for players who don’t play often. Maybe they can bring something different to the table.
Their expected lineup is Tomas Romero; Marco Farfan, Jesus Murillo, Tristan Blackmon, Mamadou Fall; Latif Blessing, Eduard Atuesta, Francisco Ginella, Raheem Edwards; Cristian Arango, Cal Jennings.
Why Bet on Sporting KC?
Unlike LAFC, Sporting KC hasn’t lost in their last six games. However, they haven’t won in their last three. They drew 1-1 to the Portland Timbers, 0-0 to Minnesota United and, most recently, 1-1 to the Colorado Rapids. It’s the first time that Sporting has split the points in three straight matches since July 2017.
KC sits in second place with 40 points, two less than the Seattle Sounders, thanks to an 11-7-4 record. They’ve scored 37 goals and allowed 22. Things tend to get easier when you’ve one of the league’s top scorers. Salloi has scored 12 goals.
However, they’ll have to beat LAFC without Salloi this time, because he’ll be playing in the World Cup qualifiers with Hungary. Even so, Sporting KC has the capability of presenting a very competitive squad.
They’ve won more games on the road than at home. They’re 6-2-3, 8-3 against the spread and 5-5-1 over/under. You can’t underestimate that kind of numbers when betting online.
Besides Salloi, Gadi Kinda is also out due to the WCQ. Their expected lineup is Tim Melia; Graham Zusi, Ilie Sanchez, Andreu Fontas, Luis Martins; Roger Espinoza, Gianluca Busio, Cameron Duke; Johnny Russell, Khiry Shelton, Alan Pulido.
Final Analysis, Predictions
This game is a tricky one. Neither has its best players, but there will be a lot on the line. Los Angeles FC needs to put an end to their losing/drawing streak ASAP. Sporting KC wants to climb to first place, they’ve to take advantage of the fact that Seattle won’t be playing. If they win, the pressure will be on the Sounders’ shoulders.
Substitute players must go all-in to gain a spot in the starting lineup, that’s why I expect an exciting game. Nevertheless, at the end of the day, LAFC has too many players out. Sporting KC at +290 is too good not to take it. Salloi won’t play, but Pulido and Russell can get the job done.
