Leicester vs Liverpool Game Preview, Live Stream, Odds, Picks & Predictions

Manchester City scored 17 goals in its last three games. That was enough to tie Liverpool as the top-scoring team in the English Premier League. Plus, the Citizens took advantage of the Reds not playing last weekend to increase their advantage at the top of the table. We’re talking about six points, a lot considering how competitive the EPL is.

That’s why the Reds can’t afford to lose at Leicester City on Tuesdayin their last game of the year. The Foxes have been struggling, but at a certain plus price in the soccer odds we’ll take a shot.

Liverpool Must Beat Leicester City

Leicester City Looking for Answers

Not too long ago, Leicester City won the EPL title. Now, the Foxes are struggling to finish the year in the top 10. They currently sit in 10th place, but they’ve scored more goals than Tottenham (fifth) and Manchester United (seventh). Curious, right?

Most recently on boxing day, they faced Manchester City and lost 6-3. The Foxes fought bravely, but the Citizens’ offensive power was just too much. The first half finished 4-0. Also, keep in mind that head coach Brendan Rodgers decided to leave Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi on the bench. They didn’t play at all.

I’m not a head coach, but you can’t leave Vardy on the bench, especially not after the team managed to make it 4-3 at some point. Vardy has scored nine goals; only Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota from Liverpool have scored more.

If there’s something you can expect from the Foxes, it’s goals. They scored in each of their last eight games in all competitions, including matches against Napoli and Liverpool.

You can also expect them to put up a better fight due to playing at home. Their home record isn’t the best, 4-1-3, but they’ve won two more games than on the road. This is one of those cases where playing at home really increases the team’s betting online value.

No major injuries to report here. In fact, having Vardy and Ndidi fully rested could make a huge difference.

Leicester City’s predicted lineup: Kasper Schmeichel; Daniel Amartey, Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu; Ricardo Pereira, Youri Tielemans, Boubakary Soumare, Timothy Castagne; James Maddison, Ayoze Perez, Jamie Vardy.

Liverpool Back in Action

Liverpool didn’t play last weekend. The Reds were supposed to face Leeds United. However, the game was rescheduled following the number of positive COVID-19 cases within the Leeds squad.

Not playing allowed some players to fully recover, including Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones. All three returned after their periods of isolation following positive COVID-19 tests.

Having Van Dijk back just in time to face Vardy is huge. That’s also one of the reasons why Liverpool comes in as a huge betting sports favorite at -265. They won four of their last five games when playing as favorites.

Offensively, the Reds average 2.7 goals per game. Salah leads the league’s scoring chart with 15 goals, followed by Jota with 10. Together, they’ve scored more goals than 12 teams have in total.

Andrew Robertson is suspended, so he won’t be available. Divock Origi is out as well due to injury. No need to worry, Liverpool has talent to spare. Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Takumi Minamino and Kostas Tsimikas didn’t start in the last game. All of them would be starters in pretty much any other team.

Liverpool’s predicted lineup: Allison; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jason Matip, Virgil van Dijk, James Milner; Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Naby Keita; Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane.

Leicester City vs Liverpool Prediction

The schedule had no mercy with Leicester City. Just like I said last week, they’ll face an opponent whose offensive power is just too much. That doesn’t mean they won’t put up a fight, but it won’t be enough. Liverpool’s entire roster is well rested, and Van Dijk is eager to prove he remains one of the best defensive players in the world.

Our football prediction is that we’re going to watch a very entertaining game in which Liverpool’s total will go over.

Score Prediction: Liverpool 3, Leicester City 1
