It wasn’t easy, but PSG just about managed to prevail in the opening match of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season. Le Havre equalized after the break and looked set for a shock upset, only for substitutes Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola to score in the 84th and 86th minute before Randal Kolo Muani sealed the deal with a penalty goal.
Paris Saint-Germain (-315) will be looking to make it five straight wins against French opponents as they take on Montpellier (+785) in their first home match since Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid. The soccer betting odds are in PSG’s favor as they push for yet another victory against Montpellier.

Prop Picks: Can Kolo Muani Step Up for PSG?
Paris Saint-Germain began their time under Qatari ownership under less than ideal circumstances, finishing three points behind Montpellier in the 2011/12 season. Since then, however, Les Parisiens have ended a two-decade title drought and finished atop France’s top-flight in 10 of the last 12 seasons. At -325, the online sportsbooks are putting their money on PSG as they look to come away with a fourth consecutive league championship.
However, it may not be the routine endeavor of last season, where Luis Enrique’s side coasted to the title despite phasing out Mbappé from the lineup. Rennes roared out of the gates with a 3-0 victory vs. Lyon, Marseille sent shockwaves throughout French football by thrashing Brest 5-1 whilst Lille, Monaco and Lens also won on opening weekend.
PSG will face plenty of competition as they look to retain their dynasty following the loss of their all-time leading scorer, and they’ll be counting on RandalKolo Muani to step up and make his mark at the center forward position.
So far, Kolo Muani’s career has been defined by one moment – when he looked set to give France a last-second lead in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final, only for Emiliano Martínez to deny him from close range and steer Argentina to a penalty shootout victory.
The 25-year-old bounced back this past summer by wrestling the starting center forward spot away from Marcus Thuram and opening the scoring in the Euro 2024 semifinal, but he came up short yet again as Spain prevailed 2-1 and booked their spot in the final.

Kolo Muani joined PSG in September 2023 for €95 million but struggled to make his mark at the Parc de Princes with just six goals and five assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances. With Mbappé and fellow summer arrival Gonçalo Ramos ahead of him in the pecking order, consistent playing time was in short supply for the French international, but that could be set to change very soon.
The 25-year-old striker came on for Ramos in the 20th minute in the season opener and looked a constant threat for Les Parisiens up top, winning a penalty, grabbing a penalty goal, registering three shots on target, one off target and one off the woodwork. There’s reason to believe that he will profit from consistent starting opportunities and finally justify his price tag for PSG.
We’re backing him to find the back of the net in our Ligue 1 betting picks and lead PSG to victory against a familiar foe. Kolo Muani ended the 2020/21 season by scoring against Montpellier for Nantes, and 10 months later, he opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory against Montpellier.
He would have to wait another two years before exploiting La Paillade’s backline again, grabbing a brace of assists in their 6-2 thrashing of Montpellier in March. If you’re planning an online bet on French soccer, bet on PSG to win and bet on Kolo Muani to score.
Best on Randal Kolo Muani to score and PSG to win at -325
