Winless Reds on Red Alert

Forbidden to Lose

Believe it or not, Liverpool, the betting online favorites to dethrone Manchester City as English Premier League kings at +600, are winless through three matches. The Reds are 0-2-1, meaning they can’t afford to lose on Saturday against Bournemouth, especially because the game is at Anfield. Otherwise, they’ll fall to the relegation zone.

The thing is that the visitors are in a similar situation, meaning they also need to win. They aren’t winless, but they could also end up in the relegation zone. Summing up, you can expect both to go all-in right from the start.

Liverpool: Missing Mane

When Sadio Mane decided to leave, everybody thought Liverpool were going to be just fine. And maybe they will be, but it has been more complicated than the Reds initially thought. Mane was Mohamed Salah’s ideal partner. Now, the Pharaoh is feeling kind of lonely, especially since Darwin Nunez was sent off on Matchday 2 and sanctioned with three games.

Last Monday, Liverpool faced Manchester United at Old Trafford and lost 2-1. The Reds won possession with 71 percent, but only Salah was effective in front of goal. Roberto Firmino, who replaced Nunez in the starting lineup, didn’t meet expectations.

Prior to that, the Reds drew 2-2 to Fulham and 1-1 to Crystal Palace. Salah also scored against Fulham while Luis Diaz was the scorer against Palace. The Reds also won possession in those two games, but it didn’t help either.

Despite recent results, and the absence of Nunez for two more games, manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t worried.

“Until the final pass or final decision, we played like we should have played. Against so many legs in the defense, it is not easy to create a new chance every 20 seconds, but we had a lot of moments in the box. We were unlucky after a set-piece and I still have no idea how the ball did not go in, but that’s how it is,” explained Klopp to the press.

Well, he’s not wrong. The Reds have been unlucky, but they still are a well-balanced team, enough to be offering a -800 price in the sportsbook to win straight up.

Bournemouth: Petty Calendar

As mentioned before, Bournemouth is 1-0-2, but to be fair, they already faced two of the soccer betting favorites to win the title in Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Cherries opened the season with a huge 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. Jefferson Lerma scored only two minutes into the game while Kieffer Moore sealed the deal with only 10 minutes left on the clock.

Later, they visited the Citizens and the Gunners, losing 4-0 and 3-0, respectively. Most recently, they eliminated Norwich on Tuesday in the second round of the EFL Cup. The Cherries advanced after winning the penalty shootout 5-3 after the match ended 2-2.

Last season, Bournemouth allowed less goals playing on the road (18) than at home (21). Yes, they played in the Championship, but still. heavily relying on the counter-attack had a lot to do with that, so you can expect more of the same at Anfield.

Besides being a thrilling match, the game against Norwich served as debuts for Neto and Ben Greenwood. Both are products of the Cherries academy and will contribute a lot. Fresher legs can make a huge difference, especially in such a long season.

As expected, the visitors come in as the underdogs at +1900. That means a $100 could turn into a $2000 payout if they pull off the stunner.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth Prediction

Forget about an upset. I actually feel sorry for Bournemouth because I expect Salah and company to run wild on Saturday. This is a perfect opportunity for the Reds to get their first victory as Bournemouth is usually very intimidated by the powerhouses. Plus, regarding the EPL, the Reds have gone 24 straight home games without losing. In other words, you can expect another goal-fest, enough for our soccer prediction to be the total going over 3½ goals.

Score Prediction: Liverpool 4, Bournemouth 1
