The last time they met, the game at Allianz Field ended 1-1. Carlos Vela opened the can for the visitors, while Michael Boxall scored for the home side. The last time they met at Banc of California Stadium, Minnesota won 2-0 with a couple of goals from Mason Toye. Luckily for LA, Toye now plays for Montreal.
Los Angeles’ only victory over Minnesota was in 2018 (2-0). Minnesota’s favorable record over LAFC includes a huge 5-1 victory, also in 2018.
Why bet on Los Angeles FC?
After having a rocky start, Los Angeles FC has improved a lot. They won three of their last five games and they’re 2-2-0 in their last four home games. They sit in fifth place with 22 points, one more than Minnesota United. Keep in mind that they’ve played one more game.
Most recently, they drew 2-2 against the Vancouver Whitecaps after overcoming a two-goal deficit. Carlos Vela and Jose Cifuentes scored the goals.
With Vela approaching his best level, LAFC can expect to be a more dangerous team. Cifuentes has been sensational, he has five goals and two assists through 15 games with the team. Also, don’t forget about Diego Rossi, who has scored five goals.
“There were still too many moments where we hurt ourselves. The tactical flexibility we’ve shown has been really good. We just need our guys to be engaged from the start,” said head coach Bob Bradley after the game against Vancouver.
Los Angeles has been considerably better when playing at home. They’re 4-3-1 (2-1-4 on the road), 2-5-1 against the spread and 1-5-2 over/under. They scored two goals in each of their last three games at Banc of America Stadium.
Mark-Anthony Kaye will not be available. He’s representing Canada in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Their expected lineup is Tomas Romero; Marco Farfan, Jesus Murillo, Eddie Segura, Kim Moon-hwan; Latif Blessing, Eduard Atuesta, Jose Cifuentes; Carlos Vela, Diego Rossi, Corey Baird.
Why Bet on Minnesota United?
Minnesota United is also on the rise. They won three of their last five games, including a huge 0-1 road victory against the Portland Timbers. Most recently, they defeated Portland once again 2-1, this time at home. Chase Gasper and Robin Lod scored the goals.
Rod is the team’s top scorer with four goals. Collectively, if they want to become a contender, they need to start winning on the road. They’re 1-2-3, 3-3 against the sports betting spread and 2-4 over/under.
“We know it’s going to be really tough on the road at LAFC. Always is, but we’ve won there in the past. I just feel as though to keep the momentum going. Keep the belief going,” said head coach Adrian Heath to the press.
They’ve scored at least one goal in 10 of their last 11 games. Defensively, they finished with a clean sheet in three of their last six games. That includes a game against the Seattle Sounders, the second top scoring team in the conference.
Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair will not be available. He’s also playing the CONCACAF Gold Cup with Canada. Their expected lineup is Tyler Miller; Jukka Raitala, Michael Boxall, Bakaye Dibassy, Chase Gasper; Niko Hansen, Wil Trapp, Hassani Dotson, Franco Fragapane; Adrien Hunou, Emanuel Reynoso.
Final Analysis and Predictions
You can expect a close, back and forth game. Three of their previous four meetings went under three goals. With players such as Vela, Cifuentes, Rossi, Rod and Chase Gasper on the field, I expect both to score. Nevertheless, I also expect the total to go under once again.
