The first leg ended with a surprising 2-0 victory for PSG. Not because of the victory, but for finishing with a clean sheet. Manchester City ended with seven shots on target, four more than PSG, but didn’t have any luck.

Of all their previous encounters, only one finished with a goalless draw. Regarding the total, it went over three goals twice, precisely in the two meetings in which both scored.

Well-Oiled Machine

Manchester City has lost only three games between the English Premier League and the UCL. Most recently, they crushed Everton 3-0. Regarding the UCL, their last game was against Club Brugge and they won 4-1.

We’re talking about a well-balanced team. However, they are always thinking about attacking. The Citizens have scored 15 goals in four UCL games. Only Bayern Munich has scored more with 17.

The Parisians have lost only one game on the road in all competitions. They own a 5-3-1 record, scored in six of those games and finished with a clean sheet twice.

“Our strength is being able to punish the opposition when it’s needed, that’s the way we approach matches and win matches. We know that we can beat anyone, so we need to go there with confidence in ourselves,” said goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in an interview.

He’s not wrong. PSG has been able to win games even when they weren’t supposed to. For example, last weekend they won despite playing with 10 players after goalkeeper Keylor Navas got a red card.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino will have all players available as well. The international break was kind to them.

Final Analysis, Predictions

This could well be a preview of the Grand Finale. Both have talent to spare and are eager to prove who’s the boss. PSG’s chemistry is more developed now and will put up a good fight, but Manchester City remains the better team. It’s going to be a goal-fest, enough for the total to go over.
