Manchester United Can Forget About Title

Manchester City Coasting in English Premier League

Manchester United invested a lot of money with the aim of winning the English Premier League. However, things haven’t turned out as they thought, especially in the last fixture. Losing to Wolverhampton, at home, left the Red Devils 22 points out of first place.

Not everything is lost, though. The Red Devils still have a great chance to finish in the top four. That would secure them a spot in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League.

If you want to know what happened in the last EPL fixture and what comes next, you came to the right place. That includes figuring out how our soccer betting predictions did.

English Premier League Breakdown

Great Deal for Manchester City

In the last fixture, Manchester City won twice. First, the Citizens defeated Arsenal 2-1, exactly like we predicted. Later, Chelsea and Liverpool drew 2-2, allowing the Citizens to increase their advantage at the top up to 10 points.

Pep Guardiola’s team hasn’t lost in its last 11 games, has scored 53 goals and allowed only 13. I know, it’s like we’re talking about a season in a video game. Most recently, they also won in the third round of the FA Cup, crushing Swindon Town 4-1.

This weekend, there’s going to be a final of sorts as Manchester City will play host to Chelsea. The Blues are sitting in second place and simply can’t afford to lose.

As expected, the home side comes in as the betting online favorite at -150. The thing is that you won’t find a more tempting underdog than Chelsea.

Liverpool, the team sitting in third place, will be paying close attention. They would greatly benefit from a draw, but also from a Chelsea victory. The Reds are huge favorites at -300 to beat Brentford, so taking advantage of either scenario shouldn’t be a problem.

New Dark Horse

Prior to the start of the season, I chose Manchester United as my dark horse to win the title. However, as I mentioned before, the Red Devils are far from meeting expectations.

They lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton, but it could have been worse. The visitors finished with 19 shots, six on target, while the Red Devils finished with nine shots, two on target.

That’s why I think it’s time to start talking about a new dark horse, and that’s Tottenham. The Spurs haven’t lost since manager Antonio Conte took over, and they’re sitting in sixth place with 33 points.

Due to COVID-19, Tottenham has played three games less than Manchester City and Chelsea, two less than Liverpool. Winning all those pending games would allow the Reds to climb to third place.

Only a catastrophe would prevent Manchester City from winning the title, but Tottenham at +25000 is really tempting. That’s in case you were looking for an underdog to include in your soccer picks. Conte already rewrote history in Italy by leading Inter Milan to its first title in 12 years.

I would have said Arsenal, but it seems like the Gunners just can’t beat the powerhouses.

Precisely, Tottenham will play host to Arsenal this weekend. The Spurs are offering a +150 price in the sportsbook while the Gunners are +185. Trust me, you don’t want to miss this game.

Can’t Win

Norwich, Newcastle and Burley are the relegation zone tenants. They simply can’t win, especially Norwich, which lost its last five games. Newcastle and Burnley at least had a draw in one of their last five games.

Burnley has one small advantage. The Clarets have played two games less than Newcastle and Norwich. Winning those two games would allow them to get out of the relegation zone.

This week, Norwich will face West Ham United and Everton, not easy at all. As expected, they come in as huge underdogs.

Burnley will be playing host to Leicester City, while Newcastle will do the same to Watford. Believe it or not, Newcastle dominates the odds board at -105, while Burnley is offering a +205 price.

Red Territory

Liverpool isn’t atop the standings, but two of its players command the EPL scoring chart. We’re talking about Mohamed Salah with 16 goals and Diogo Jota with 10. Sadio Mane is also in the list with eight goals. Sounds unfair, right?

Salah is the whole package. He also leads the league in assists with nine. His wonderful first half of the season was enough to be nominated for The Best. That’s FIFA’s Ballon d’Or.

Jamie Vardy and Cristiano Ronaldo, with nine and eight goals, respectively, are the main threats in the Golden Boot race. The thing is that Leicester City and Manchester United aren’t as good as Liverpool.
