AC Milan hosts Liverpool in a bid for A.C. Milan to defy the odds and make the last 16 of the Champions League. With Liverpool in first place in Group B and already through, Jurgen Klopp has the ability to rest his starters.
Milan lost its first three games to open up its campaign and looked left for dead. With a win and a draw in their last two, a win here could potentially be enough for the Rossoneri to go through. The soccer betting odds list A.C. Milan as the favorites, although with worse than even odds.

AC Milan vs Liverpool Betting Preview
Head to Head
AC Milan and Liverpool have met three previous times in the past 20 years, twice in Champions League finals. Liverpool’s famous three-goal comeback in 2005 led to a victory in penalties for the Reds. Milan got revenge two years later as Filippo Inzaghi’s brace led the Rossoneri to the title.
In September, Milan became one of the few recent opposing teams to hold a halftime lead at Anfield. Fikayo Tomori’s own goal gave Liverpool an early lead but Milan fired back with two goals in rapid succession just before halftime.
Mo Salah and Jordan Henderson sent Milan’s upset hopes crashing down as Liverpool rallied for a 3-2 win to open up their UCL campaign.
Milan Needs Bit of Magic
A convincing 2-0 win over Salernitana propelled AC Milan to first place in Serie A. One point ahead of bitter rivals Inter Milan, the Rossoneri have been a great pick for betting online. The defense has, at times, looked shaky but Milan has kept three shutouts in their last four matches in all competitions.
Unfortunately, Danish center back Simon Kjaer tore his ACL in a 3-0 win vs Genoa last week. That means we can expect to see the pairing of Tomori and Alessio Romagnoli that started vs Salernitana.
Milan has also been missing forwards Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic, as well as starting right back Davide Calabria. That means it is Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s time to shine on Tuesday. The 40-year-old has scored six goals in 12 appearances this season and has still got it.
That could also mean opportunities for Junior Messias, whose improbable rise to the top tier of Italian soccer culminated in the biggest goal of the Rossoneri’s season. His header vs Atletico Madrid was the game’s only goal and kept Milan’s knockout stage hopes alive.
Milan may need a similar moment to take down a tough Liverpool side but will go all-out for the win here.
Liverpool in Pole Position
Since losing to West Ham on Nov. 7th, Liverpool has rattled off five straight wins in all competitions. In that span, Liverpool has outscored opponents by a whopping 15-1 margin and has been one of the best soccer picks.
With Roberto Firmino out, Diogo Jota has been in excellent goal-scoring form. Even forgotten cult hero Divock Origi has gotten in on the action. Level with the Wolves in the 90th minute last Saturday, the substitute Origi clinically finished a Salah pass. The win brought Liverpool within one point of leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool is in as good a position as any side right now and can afford to rest its starters after an exhausting weekend match. Salah and Sadio Mane featured in Liverpool’s last Champions League match, despite already clinching the Group.
It’s uncertain whether both will play but expect a fair amount of rotation. Players like Takumi Minamino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kostas Tsimikas and Ibrahima Konate should get some extended run.
Milan vs Liverpool Prediction
AC Milan have had some down years in the past decade but its resurgence is in full swing. This is the most important match of their season and they’ll undoubtedly expect to still be playing in the Champions League come February.
It won’t be an easy match, even with Liverpool slated to rest a few starters, but it’s one Milan should win. Take Milan at even odds in the sportsbook.
