Home Side Remains Unbeaten
While the UEFA Champions League is about to end, the Copa Libertadores is barely warming up. The Group Stage will end between Wednesday and Thursday, which means we’re about to find out which are the best 16 teams in South America.
Atletico Mineiro already secured a ticket for the Round of 16, but not first place in Group D. On the other hand, Tolima needs at least a draw to secure a spot in the next round. A victory could also boost the Colombians to the top.
In other words, you can expect a back-and-forth battle in which the home side dominates the soccer lines at -240.
Mineiro Among the Best
Atletico Mineiro is one of five teams that haven’t lost in the Group Stage. Three of those teams are from Brazil. Anyway, the White and Blacks are 3-2-0 with nine goals for and four against.
Most recently, the White and Blacks defeated Independiente del Valle 3-1 with two goals from Hulk (not the green one) and one from Savio Moreira. Collectively, they’ve scored in all five games and finished with a clean sheet once. Individually, there are no players from Atletico Mineiro among the tournament’s top scorers.
As mentioned before, the Brazilian side already secured a spot in the Round of 16. However, losing by three goals would make them fall to second place. It’s very difficult for that to happen, but not impossible, especially if they end up relaxing a bit too much.
In this case, for you to make a $100 profit, you would need to wager $240 on Atletico Mineiro to win straight up. The other option is to bet on the total (2½ goals) going over at -125. The Black and Whites couldn’t fulfill their role as betting online favorites once. They were huge favorites to defeat America-MG at home and the game ended 1-1. On the other hand, the total went over 2½ goals in two of their previous five games.
Go Big or Go Home for Tolima
All Tolima needs to secure a spot in the Round of 16 is a draw. If the visitors lose, Independiente del Valle could snatch second place by defeating America-MG, which is very likely. Independiente comes in as the online gambling favorite at -150.
Last week, the Colombians drew 2-2 to America-MG at home. Anderson Plata and Michael Rangel were the scorers. Unlike Atletico Mineiro, Tolima does have a player among the top scorers. I’m talking about Plata, who has scored four goals.
Overall, Tolima owns a 2-2-1 record, but remains unbeaten when playing on the road with a 1-1-0 record. They drew 2-2 to Independiente del Valle and defeated America-MG 3-2. In other words, they always go all-in no matter where they play.
The visitors are offering a +600 price to win straight up. If you wager a $100 on them and they pull off the stunner, your payout would be $700. Not bad at all, especially if we consider that they can’t afford to lose.
Mineiro vs Tolima Head-to-Head
The first leg was the first meeting ever between these two. The game at Estadio Manuel Murillo finished with a 2-0 victory for Atletico Mineiro. Ignacio Fernandez and Tche Tche were the scorers. Referee Alexis Herrera showed three yellow cards in total, all three to Tolima.
Overall, Tolima owns a 6-4-8 record against teams from Brazil. On the other hand, Mineiro owns an 11-4-4 record against teams from Colombia.

Mineiro vs Tolima Prediction
Atletico Mineiro won’t take this game for granted. First of all, there’s a huge difference between qualifying first and qualifying second. Second of all, the Black and Whites don’t want to be the first unbeaten Brazilian team to lose. It’s no joke: In Brazil they take soccer very seriously.
Tolima will put up a fight, though. Enough for the total to go over, which is my football prediction. However, it won’t be enough, meaning the Colombians will need some help from America-MG.
Score Prediction: Mineiro 2, Tolima 1
Pick: Over 2½ (-125)
