Why bet on Austin FC?
It’s normal for a new team to get bad results, but I believe Austin FC is better than last place. Their situation it’s not as bad as it sounds. They could climb to 10th place in the Western Conference with a victory. Right now, they’re at the bottom with 13 points and a 3-4-7 record. They’re one point behind the Vancouver Whitecaps, San Jose Earthquakes and FC Dallas.
Most recently, they lost 1-0 to the Seattle Sounders. They won only one of their last four games (1-1-2) but it was a huge 4-1 victory over the Portland Timbers.
Offensively, they’re the worst team in the Western Conference after scoring 10 goals in 14 games. Defensively, they’re the second-best team in the conference after allowing only 15 goals. Only the Sounders have allowed less goals with 12. That’s one of the reasons for them to be the sports betting favorite here.
Prior to this game, Austin played an international friendly match with Tigres UANL from Liga MX. Head coach Josh Wolff gave an opportunity to plenty of players who’ve not seen the field much. Rodney Redes took advantage, scoring the team’s lone goal in a 3-1 setback. Redes and other players who had a good performance will allow more rotations in the team.
Overall, they’re 1-2-2 at home, 1-3-1 against the spread and 1-4 over/under.
Their expected lineup is Brad Stuver; Nick Lima, Julio Cascante, Matt Besler, Zan Kolmanic; Tomas Pochettino, Alexander Ring, Diego Fagundez, Jared Stroud; Cecilio Dominguez, Jon Gallagher.
Why Bet on Colorado Rapids?
Yes, they lost their last game 3-0 to Real Salt Lake, but that was their only loss in their last five games (2-2-1). Right now, they are in fourth place with 24 points thanks to a 7-3-4 record. They’re eight points behind Seattle, but they’ve played two games less.
“We win together, we lose together, so there’s no individual blame on the goals. We’re very disappointed to come away with nothing because we felt well in the game and comfortable until the mistakes were made,” said midfielder Jack Price after the game against RSL.
More help is on the way. The Rapids just acquired Mark-Anthony Kaye from Los Angeles FC. He scored nine goals and made 18 assists in 77 appearances with LAFC. Right now, he’s playing in the Gold Cup with Canada.
Colorado is 2-1-3 on the road. They also are 3-2-1 against the spread and 2-4 over/under. They scored at least one goal in four of their last five road games.
Several players are out. Younes Namli and Diego Rubio are injured while Kellyn Acosta, Jonathan Lewis and Sam Vines are playing the Gold Cup. Their expected lineup is William Yarbrough; Lalas Abubakar, Danny Wilson, Auston Trusty; Keegan Rosenberry, Collen Warner, Jack Price, Nicolas Mezquida; Michael Barrios, Cole Bassett, Andre Shinyashiki.
Final Analysis, Predictions
It’s going to be a close one. The Rapids own the third-best defense in the Western Conference after allowing 16 goals in 14 games. Their best players are out, but the rest have to take advantage of this huge opportunity to prove they belong.
If there’s a good opponent to face without your top players, it’s Austin FC. They’re playing with a lot of pressure, but they know they can’t afford to lose more games at home.
