Philadelphia Union Great Start
You won’t find a more tempting underdog than the Philadelphia Union. We’re talking about first place in the Eastern Conference thanks to a 5-2-1 record, 12 goals for, and only five against. No other team in the league has allowed fewer goals than them.
Last week, Philly drew 1-1 to Montreal CF. Julian Carranza scored the team’s lone goal from the penalty spot. It wasn’t a good match for Philly, Montreal won possession with 55 percent and took more shots on goal. Hey, a champ also needs a little bit of luck sometimes, right?
Daniel Gazdag comes in as the Union top scorer with four goals. That’s impressive considering he isn’t a striker. He’s followed by Carranza, who has scored three goals.
Philadelphia owns a 2-0-1 record when playing on the road. Its best performance was against the reigning champions, New York City FC. The Union won 2-0 with goals from Alejandro Bedoya and Gazdag. The defeat was against Toronto FC, 2-1.
For Sunday’s game, Philly comes in as the betting online underdog at +260. That means a potential payout of $360 per every $100 invested. This will be the third time that the Union plays as road underdogs. Curiously enough, they lost the only road game in which they were favorites.
