Seventh place may sound mediocre, but at the end of the day, the team that holds that position has the same chance as the one that ranks first. Last season, New York City FC ended up winning the MLS Cup after qualifying to the playoffs in fourth place.
Therefore, Nashville SC will play host to the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night in a crucial match as the winner will secure seventh place in the Western Conference. The top seven teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs. The Six Strings dominate the soccer lines, but the Sounders won two of their last three road games.
Nashville SC Determined to Bounce Back
After only losing one of its previous seven MLS games, Nashville SC got crushed by Charlotte FC on Saturday. The Mints won 4-1 and it could have been worse. That was the first time that the Six Strings conceded four times in club history.
They’ll return home to face the Seattle Sounders. Nashville has lost only one of its last 20 games when playing at home. Most recently, they drew 2-2 to the Portland Timbers. At one point, they were up 2-0, but five shoddy minutes allowed the Timbers to even the score.
Hany Mukhtar is another good reason for you to consider including the Six Strings in your soccer picks. He has scored 10 goals, including eight in his last eight MLS matches. That’s more than any other player since that run began in mid-May. Right now, he’s among the favorites to win the Golden Boot at +800.
There’s also Walker Zimmerman, who won Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. Both players have been selected to the 2022 MLS All-Star Game. Mukhtar was selected for the first time while Zimmerman is set to appear in his third ASG. You can expect both to be highly motivated.
Handwalla Bwana, Robert Castellanos and Anibal Godoy are all questionable due to injury. Even so, the home side is offering a -120 price in the sportsbook to win straight up.
Seattle Sounders Also Determined to Bounce Back
The Seattle Sounders also were humiliated last Saturday. They played host to the Portland Timbers and lost 3-0. We expected them to put up a better fight but, hey, we told you to go with the over. Besides losing the game, Seattle also lost Jackson Ragen, who was sent off at the beginning of the second half.
The Sounders have been a more reliable betting online pick when playing on the road, winning two of their last three matches. They kept clean sheets in both victories — 1-0 over Houston Dynamo and 2-0 over Toronto FC, after failing to keep one in their previous 13 MLS road games.
Overall, Seattle has allowed 22 goals. Only Los Angeles FC (21) has allowed fewer. On the other hand, they’ve scored 26 goals, with Raul Ruidiaz and Jordan Morris leading the way with five goals each. They’re followed by Nicolas Lodeiro with three.
Ruidiaz and Morris were also selected to the ASG, so Mukhtar and Zimmermann won’t be the only players on the pitch highly motivated.
Besides Ragen, the visitors, who are offering a +315 price, will be without Xavier Arreaga, who is recovering from a hamstring injury.
Nashville SC vs Sounders Head-to-Head
These two have met only once. It was in the opening match of this season. Nashville SC visited Lumen Field and came up with the 1-0 victory. The match was decided on an 80th-minute goal by Anibal Godoy.
The Sounders won possession with 58 percent, but they truly missed Ruidiaz, who couldn’t play due to injury.

Nashville SC vs Sounders Prediction
Seattle just suffered its largest home defeat in nearly seven years. Prior to losing to Portland, the Sounders had gone 124 straight home matches without losing by three or more goals, the third-longest such streak in MLS history. In other words, ouch! Therefore, we expect the Sounders to go all-in right from the start and to pull off the upset. Mukhtar is having a great season, but Seattle’s attacking unit is way better. If you were looking for an underdog to include in your ticket, this is it.
Score Prediction: Seattle Sounders 2, Nashville SC 1
