Here Comes the Revs
After a very rocky start, the New England Revolution are finally meeting expectations that had them considered as preseason favorites. The Revs carry a six game non-losing streak into Wednesday night’s matchup against visiting Orlando City. A victory would boost New England up to fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
On the other hand, the visitors are determined to bounce back after losing their last game prior to the international break. They come in as the betting online underdogs at +410. Considering they’ve lost only one of their seven away matches this season, that’s a tempting deal.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports and MLS odds for the New England Revolution vs Orlando City. We’ve plenty of soccer predictions for you to consider.
Revolution: New Sheriff in Town
Adam Buksa, the team’s top scorer with seven goals, will join RC Lens on July 10. Plus, he’s playing in the UEFA Nations League with Poland. Therefore, head coach Bruce Arena needed a new center striker to lead the attacking unit. Fortunately for him, one game was enough to find him. He even found two.
Last Sunday, the Revs visited Sporting KC and won 2-1, exactly like we predicted. Gustavo Bou, Buksa’s replacement, took a step forward and scored the first goal during the first half. Johnny Russell evened things up for the Wizards in the second half, but Emmanuel Boateng scored the winning goal with only three minutes left.
Bou isn’t a rookie or anything like it. In fact, the Revs have lost only one of the 30 MLS matches in which Bou has found the net. However, Buksa was clearly overshadowing him. Same with Boateng, who scored 11 goals with the Los Angeles Galaxy from 2016 to 2019.
Regarding the international break, the Revs don’t have much to worry about. Most of their top players will be available on Wednesday, including the league’s reigning MVP, Carles Gil. Besides Buksa, only goalkeeper Matt Turner is out due to the CONCACAF Nations League, but 22-year-old Dorde Petrovic did a good job against Sporting KC.
The Revs, who are 3-2-2 when playing at home, are offering a -150 price in the sportsbook.
Orlando City: No Gallese
Thanks to the World Cup Qualifiers, Orlando City will visit the New England Revolution without one of its best players. We’re talking about goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, who traveled all the way to Qatar for Peru vs. Australia. Unfortunately for him, the South Americans lost in an epic penalty shootout and will have to watch the WC from home.
Gallese has led the Lions to six clean sheets in 14 games, so he’ll be missed. Mason Stajduhar, who’s 24 years old, is expected to take his place in the starting lineup.
Prior to the international break, the Lions suffered a heartbreaking loss at home, 3-1 to FC Dallas. They went to halftime with the advantage thanks to a goal from Ercan Kara, but in the second half, the defense couldn’t hold up. The visitors scored all three goals in a 17-minute span.
Keep in mind that they played three days prior to that game. It was against Inter Miami in the Round of 16 of the U.S. Open and it was an intense match that ended 1-1. Things should be different with fresher legs.
As mentioned before, the Lions come in as the soccer betting underdogs thanks to a +410 price. That means wagering $100 for a potential $510 payout.
