Nice vs. Metz: Easy Home Win
Last week our Ligue 1 Parlay cashed but one of our selections pushed at Lyon vs. Marseille was halted four minutes in after a fan struck Marseille star Dimitri Payet in the head with a water bottle. Paris Saint-Germain covered the -1½ and we won part of our parlay. A win is a win, and we move forward with this week’s French top-flight league parlay.
Nice is one of the most consistent teams of the season. With a new coach in former Lille’s Christophe Galtier who won the league last season and an ambitious long-term project, Nice are the best from the rest sitting second in the Ligue 1 standings behind leaders PSG. They have the best defense in the league with just 11 goals conceded in 14 games and they enter this clash as heavy favorites being priced at -230 on the three-way moneyline with the latest soccer odds.
One of their most important players, Justin Kluivert, got back from injury last week playing 30 minutes against Clermont. He decided the final outcome with an amazing assist for Amine Gouiri who was brilliant at the weekend scoring a brace for Christophe Galtier’s team. He scored three goals in his last four appearances for Nice offering also an assist during this period.
Metz are no walkovers. Yes, they are sitting dead last in standings with just one win in 14 games, but they scored against Nice in their last five mutual encounters managing to win two games in the process. They have the worst defense in the league with 30 goals conceded this season, averaging two plus goals per game. They are awful at the back, and we faded them many times this season in our soccer picks and parlays. We will do it again as we expect a convincing home with Nice able to cover the -1 spread.
Pick: Nice -1 at -135
Montpellier vs. Lyon: High-Scoring Game
Montpellier are one of the toughest teams to beat when they are playing at home. They lost one home match in Ligue 1 (3-2 against Marseille) and they scored in every single match, keeping three clean sheets in seven games.
On the other side, Lyon are poor on the road. They won just one game in six away from home, but they failed to find the back of the net in just one (3-0 defeat to Angers). They have amazing firepower with Lucas Paqueta, Karl Toko Ekambi who’s their top scorer and Houssem Aouar leading the attack.
Last weekend they played just four minutes against Marseille because referee Ruddy Buquet stopped play and sent both teams to their respective dressing rooms after Marseille’s Dimitri Payet got hit by a bottle from the stands. Lyon has been ordered by the French Ligue de Football Professionnel to close their stadium until definitive sanction so they will play without their fans against Reims in 10 days.
Lyon and Montpellier are equal on points (19), goals scored (21) and goals conceded (21) and lately they offered us entertaining games when they played each other. Sometimes it is very good to follow a trend when you’re betting online. Given both teams defensive struggles but clinical in the final third we expect once again goals.
If you like betting on the winners’ market, we recommend you back the hosts in this one because they are superb at home and they also have a great record against Lyon winning their previous two home head-to-heads. They are priced at +320 to win this clash and you could also take a safer approach as we don’t expect them to lose this clash (Montpellier +½ at +105). For the second pick of the parlay, we are going for Over 3 at -130.
