We’re on the Edge thanks to La Liga and Ligue 1 Title Races

The English Premier League, Italian Serie A, and Bundesliga Effectively Done

Manchester City, Inter Milan, and Bayern Munich have a very comfortable advantage at the top of their respective domestic league, but not Atletico Madrid and Lille, who own a one-point and three-point advantage with less than 10 games to play.

A lot changed over the last couple of weeks, so let’s take a look at what happened and how the sports betting odds to win the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A, La Liga (Spain), Bundesliga (Germany), and Ligue 1 (France) have moved.

Premier League (England)

  • Reigning champions: Liverpool
  • Current First Place: Manchester City

Manchester City won (again) 2-0 against Leicester City to remain at the top of the English Premier League with a 14-point advantage over Manchester United. Yes, the “Red Devils” have played one game less, but 11 points (potentially) are still too much.

Manchester United (60 points) won their last three domestic games in a row, including a huge 2-0 victory against Manchester City, but their effort seems like too little, too late. Right now, their main objective is to secure a UEFA Champions League spot for next year.

Leicester City comes third with 56 points, West Ham United comes fourth (52 points), and Chelsea comes fifth (51 points). No matter the final outcome, it has been an incredible season for West Ham United.

What About Other Contenders?

Well, former contenders, because Tottenham, Liverpool, and Arsenal are out of the title race. Tottenham comes sixth (49 points), Liverpool comes seventh (49 points), and Arsenal comes tenth (42 points).

Both the “Spurs” and “Reds” can still grab an international competition ticket for next season, but the “Gunners” are far from it.

To Be Relegated

You can say bye-bye to Sheffield United already. They’ve only 14 points, 15 points less than Newcastle (seventeenth place), and they have lost four of their last five games.

Both Albion (21 points) and Fulham (26 points) are still fighting to get out of the relegation zone, but they need to start winning now.

Next Weekend Best Games

On Saturday, Manchester City will play host to Leeds United in a great coaches’ duel (Pep Guardiola/Marcelo Bielsa). Also, Liverpool will play host to Aston Villa, and Chelsea will pay a visit to Crystal Palace.

On Sunday, Jose Mourinho will face one of his former teams as Tottenham will play host to Manchester United.

Atletico Madrid is in serious trouble. They lost 1-0 to Sevilla last weekend, and now they only have a one-point advantage over Barcelona (three points over Real Madrid). Barcelona beat Valladolid 1-0, while Real Madrid beat Eibar 2-0.

Barcelona won thanks to a goal from Ousmane Dembele, and now coach Ronald Koeman expects for Dembele to stay at Barcelona: “The key is that he has physically improved and has been able to play a lot of games in a row. I would like Dembele to stay, he is an important player for us,” said Koeman.

The good news for Atletico Madrid is that Real Madrid will play host to Barcelona next Saturday, and a draw between those two could give them a more comfortable advantage once again.

Sevilla comes fourth with 58 points, while Real Betis completes the top five with 46 points. Villarreal (46 points) and Real Sociedad (45 points) are still fighting to finish the season with an international competition ticket in their pocket.

Now, Lille only depends on themselves to win the title, and their toughest pending match is against Lyon, the rest should represent no problem to them.

Both AS Monaco (62 points) and Lyon (61 points) are still in the title race, but they need help from other teams.

You can also say bye-by to Dijon. They’ve lost their last five games in a row and they have only 5 points, 13 points less than Nantes (another member of the automatic relegation zone). Nimes (29 points) and Lorient (32 points) are dangerously close to the relegation zone.
