The Liga MX just began, but some of the powerhouses are already making a statement, including Pachuca and Chivas. Both won their first game while also finishing with a clean sheet. Offensively, only Pumas scored more goals than Chivas.
Starting the tournament with two victories would be huge for their aspirations. The last time either of them won the title was in 2017. Playing at home makes Pachuca the slight betting online favorite at +110.
Pachuca vs Chivas 2022 Liga MX Fixture 2
New Era for Pachuca
Last tournament, Pachuca didn’t qualify for the playoffs, better known as La Liguilla. For such a powerful and popular team, that’s simply unacceptable.
That’s why the front office decided to sign Sergio Almada as their head coach. Almada previously coached Santos Laguna, so he knows the Liga MX pretty well. He led Santos to the Grand Finale in 2021 but lost to Cruz Azul.
Almada likes to play 4-5-1, making Pachuca a much more balanced team. That was made clear in their first game, in which they defeated Atletico San Luis 2-0 on the road. Nicolas Ibanez scored both goals.
Pachuca is well known for its youth academy, allowing them to have a deeper roster. Keep an eye on Roberto de la Rosa, a 22-year-old striker.
Despite not having qualified for the last postseason, Pachuca hasn’t lost in its last six home games. Playing at Estadio Hidalgo is the main reason for them to control the soccer odds.
No major injuries to report here. Pachuca’s predicted lineup: Oscar Ustari; Kevin Alvarez, Gustavo Cabral, Oscar Murillo, Daniel Aceves; Erick Sanchez, Luis Chavez, Romario Ibarra, Victor Guzman, Bryan Gonzalez; Nicolas Ibanez.
Chivas Trusting the Process
Unlike Pachuca, Chivas decided to trust in head coach Marcelo Leano. He’s only 34, but already won the domestic Super Cup with Necaxa. Last season, Guadalajara was eliminated in the first round of La Liguilla by Puebla. Nothing to be ashamed of since Puebla started the tournament with a draw against the favorite to win the title.
The team is 3-4-3 since Leano took over. That includes last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Mazatlan. Guadalajara simply started the season in the zone, making eight shots on target and winning possession with 70 percent.
Angel Zaldivar, Eduardo Torres and Alexis Vega were the scorers. Guadalajara’s system is 4-3-3, which allows them to create a lot of scoring opportunities, including second chances. Zaldivar, Vega and Isaac Brizuela have the potential to become the best attacking trio in the league.
Overall, we’re talking about a well-balanced team when it comes to experienced and younger players. You know, fresher legs can make a huge difference. If you place a $100 bet on Chivas and they won, your online gambling payout would be $395.
No major injuries to report here either. Guadalajara’s predicted lineup: Raul Gudino; Jesus Sanchez, Antonio Briseno, Gilberto Sepulveda, Miguel Ponce; Eduardo Torres, Sergio Flores, Cesar Huerta; Angel Zaldivar, Alexis Vega, Isaac Brizuela.

Pachuca vs Chivas Prediction
As I mentioned before, expect goals. Both are highly motivated and will go all-in with first place at stake. Playing at home, Pachuca must take the reins right from the start, but Guadalajara already proved it’s not afraid. Expect a back-and-forth battle, which is why I recommend you include the draw in your soccer picks. If you want to mix things up a little, the total will go way over.
Score Prediction: Pachuca 2, Guadalajara 2
