Missing the European soccer leagues? Cheer up because the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals are scheduled for Thursday. As expected, Canada comes in as the soccer betting favorite, but keep in mind that Panama was the best team during the group stage. This match will see the second-best attacking unit in the tournament against the top defense. Trust me, you don’t want to miss it.
Panama: Tempting Underdog
Panama simply doesn’t care about the soccer odds. Los Canaleros weren’t the favorites to win Group B, but they did. In fact, they finished undefeated with a 3-1-0 record. In addition, they were the only team that didn’t concede a single goal.

Fajardo was sent off 10 minutes later, meaning he won’t be able to play on Thursday.
No need to worry because Gabriel Torres, Panama’s all-time scoring leader in the CNL with three goals, will play. Edgar Barcenas, who leads the team in the current edition with two goals will also play.
Make sure to keep an eye on Fidel Escobar and Adalberto Carrasquilla. The first is one of the best centre-backs in the region. He recently won the Primera Division title in Costa Rica with Deportivo Saprissa. The second is one of the best midfielders in the region and plays for Houston Dynamo in the MLS.
Panama might not care about the soccer lines, but we do. Los Canaleros are offering a +435 price to win straight up.
Canada: Eager to Rewrite History
Last year, Canada finished atop the standings on the road to the 2022 World Cup. The Reds qualified for soccer’s grandest stage for the first time since 1986. Now, they want to win their first title since the 2000 Gold Cup.
The talent is there. In fact, we’re talking about Canada’s golden generation, including Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David, Cyle Larin, Stephen Eustaquio, Tajon Buchanan and Milan Borjan, to name a few. They all play in a European league. Plus, David and Larin are among the tournament’s top scorers with three goals each.
Canada advanced to the semifinals after winning Group C with a 3-0-1 record. They scored 11 goals, only three less than the United States, and conceded three. A 4-1 victory over Honduras in the last fixture was crucial.
Canada comes in as the betting online favorite. They’re offering a -160 price to win straight up. This price could be higher since we’re talking about a team that’s 6-0-2 in the CNL. Plus, winning the regional tournament would be the best way to forget about the WC, in which they lost all three games.
Panama vs Canada Head-to-Head
These two have collided 12 times. Canada holds the lead with a 4-6-2 record. Most recently, on the road to the 2022 World Cup, each defeated the other at home. First, Canada came from behind to win 4-1 at BMO Field. Later, Panama won 1-0 at Rommel Fernandez.
Both scored in four of their previous 12 encounters. Overall, Canada has scored 12 goals, while Panama has scored eight. The total for Thursday’s clash is set at 2½ goals, with the under offering a -150 price in the sportsbook.
