Host Team Going for Sweep in CONCACAF Qualifier
Hopeless Honduras Visits Panama
Panama’s World Cup push continues as they host last place Honduras in a CONCACAF showdown on Thursday. Panama got their first win over Honduras since 2016 back in November and are looking for a World Cup qualifying sweep in this one. Taking a quick look at the soccer odds, Panama are heavy favorites coming into this clash and desperately need all three points from the match.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers odds for Panama vs Honduras. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Panama Pushing for Playoffs
Panama have lost two of their last three World Cup qualifiers but are still one point ahead of Costa Rica for the intercontinental playoff spot. The games don’t get any easier from here on out as Panama’s last two matches are vs. Team USA and Canada. They have, however, just lost one match against the spread in their last five, with two wins and two pushes.
He’s played just 289 minutes in qualifying thus far, but Cecilio Waterman has been excellent when called upon. The 30-year-old striker has scored in the last three matches he’s played in and could play a role here.
Panama have an opportunity to qualify for consecutive World Cups but almost certainly need three points here. This could be the last opportunity to qualify for mainstays like midfielders Alberto Quintero and Anibal Godoy and forward Gabriel Torres.
Honduras Seeking First Win
Honduras have failed to win a single match in 11 CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers in the final round. In the last batch of internationals, Honduras were shut out in all three matches and have lost their last seven qualifiers. Los Catrachos have failed to cover the spread since drawing 1-1 with Canada in their opening match. Since then, they’re 0-8-2 ATS, mirroring their W-L-D record.
Honduras have been impossible to recommend for betting online in recent months and there have been very few positive takeaways from this group. One sign of their decline is the fact that 38-year old defender and captain Maynor Figueroa has been without a team since the end of last season.

At this point, Honduras cannot mathematically qualify for the World Cup so expect coach Hernan Dario Gomez, who is 0-6 in his tenure, to potentially shake things up a bit. It’s not exactly like the product on the field could get much worse.
Panama vs Honduras Head-to-Head
Panama came back from 2-0 down to defeat Honduras 3-2 on the road in November. Los Canaleros won as +220 underdogs but have lost three of their last five matches to Honduras. Los Catrachos beat Panama by the same scoreline in Gold Cup Group D last year.
Honduras leads the all-time series 26-13-11 but they’ve certainly been one of the soccer picks to avoid in 2022 qualifying.

Panama vs Honduras Prediction
Panama are listed as one-goal favorites in this match, but have only won one game by more than a goal in the final round of qualifiers. Honduras, on the other hand, have lost their last three matches by two goals or more, getting outscored 7-0 in the process.
The sportsbook moneyline for Panama doesn’t represent great value, even if it’s clear that this is a match that Los Canaleros should win. At -200, I’d look elsewhere for a solid pick for this match. Even Honduras’s +600 moneyline looks more appealing, along with +315 for a draw. Five of the last 11 meetings between these two have finished in draws but there’s been a winner in the last three.
Interestingly, Panama have failed to keep a shutout in their last six matches despite winning three of them. In four of Panama’s five wins in WCQ, three or more goals have been scored. They’ve also failed to keep a shutout vs Honduras for the last five meetings. I think over 2½ goals at +105 is an interesting pick, but I’m not too confident in Honduras’ ability to score.
So, I’d recommend looking at the team totals for the pick here. The most likely predicted score lines in this match seem to be Panama winning 2-1 or 2-0 and I would recommend taking Los Canaleros over 1½ to cash in if either outcome happens.
