Even though the World Cup qualifiers are being played all around the world, the MLS doesn’t stop. There are several games scheduled for this weekend, but no other more appealing than an Eastern Conference battle between the New England Revolution and host Philadelphia Union on Friday night.
The Eastern Conference-leading Revolution have lost only four games on the season and only one of their last 10. The Philadelphia Union are still fighting for second place in the conference. Curiously enough, they’re also fighting to stay in the Playoffs zone and a loss here could drop them to eighth place.
That being said, expect a back-and-forth game in which Philly is the one obliged to go all-in right from the start. Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and soccer lines for Philadelphia vs New England. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

The teams have already met twice this year. In May, at Subaru Park, the game ended 1-1. Teal Bunbury scored for New England while Kacper Przybylko scored for Philly. Most recently, the Revolution beat the Union 2-1 at Gillette Stadium. Matt Polster and Gustavo Bou scored for the home side while Paxten Aaronson struck for the visitors.
Philadelphia owns a 5-3-2 record in its last 10 games against New England. They scored 16 goals, allowed nine and finished with a clean sheet three times. The total went under in six of those games.
New England last won in Philly during the 2020 playoffs, beating the Union 2-0 on goals from Adam Buksa and Tajon Buchanan.
Why Bet on the Union?
The Philadelphia Union have had an up-and-down season. They’re in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 32 points thanks to an 8-8-6 record. They’ve scored 28 goals, worst among the top seven teams, and allowed 23.
When betting online, you’ve to take into consideration all kinds of things. That includes the number of tournaments in which each team is playing and how demanding they are. Philly is also playing in the CONCACAF Champions League. They need to overcome a two-goal deficit against Club America in a couple weeks.
Most recently, the Union lost 3-1 to DC United. Luckily for them, they’re way better when playing at home. They’re 6-3-2 at Subaru Park, 6-5 against the spread and 2-7-2 over/under. They usually create between 10 and 15 goal opportunities when playing at home.
Seven players will be out due to the World Cup qualifiers. The list includes Andre Blake, Cory Burke, Alvas Powell, Jamiro Monteiro, Olivier Mbaizo, Daniel Gazdag, and Jose Martínez.
This is going to be a great opportunity for those players who usually don’t have many minutes on the field. Their expected lineup is Matt Freese; Kai Wagner, Jack Elliott, Jakob Glesnes, Quinn Sullivan; Paxten Aaronson, Leon Flach, Alejandro Bedoya, Anthony Fontana; Kacper Przybylko, Matheus Alvarenga.
Why Bet on the Revolution?
Well, it’s pretty common to include a first-place team among your soccer picks, but there are more reasons. The New England Revolution has had an amazing season with an MLS-best 49 points thanks to a 15-4-4 record.
Also, no other team in the entire league has scored more goals than them (44). Defensively, they don’t own the best record, but they allowed only one goal in three of their last five matches.
Most recently, they lost 2-0 to New York City FC. They still have a decent record on the road at 6-3-3. They also are 7-3-2 against the spread and 6-5-1 over/under when playing away from home.
“Obviously, we need to step up our game. We need to learn from this because this is not okay. We have to sit down, and we have to go over this game and learn, and quick,” said midfielder Arnor Traustason after their last game.
That’s how committed the Revolution are to winning the title. They don’t like to lose, and they’ll do whatever it takes to not lose two games in a row.
Individually, Gustavo Bou has been amazing. He’s among the league’s top scorers with 12 goals. Carles Gil has been his best ally, leading the team and the league with 11 assists.
Adam Buksa, Tajon Buchanan, and Matt Turner are out due to the World Cup qualifiers. Their expected lineup is Brad Knighton; Brandon Bye, Andrew Farrell, Jonathan Bell, DeJuan Jones; Matt Polster, Lucas Maciel, Emmanuel Boateng, Carles Gil, Arnor Traustason; Gustavo Bou.
Final Analysis, Predictions
New England is not only the better team, it also will be less affected by the World Cup qualifiers. Yes, those three players are very good, but the Revolution can handle it. It’s not every day that you see a first-place team as the underdog so you’ve to take it.
