Portugal: Attacking Firepower

Portugal was one of the absolute shocks to not automatically qualify for this year’s World Cup. Since getting knocked out of Euro 2020 with zero points to their name and eight goals conceded in three games, Turkey suffered just one defeat in seven fixtures. Following the disastrous campaign at Euro 2020, Turkey has looked abroad for its new coach and appointed Germany Under-21s coach Stefan Kuntz. The German coach has some experience in Turkish football as he played for Besiktas for one season.

In Turkey, he took over a squad that is brimming with promising talent and had impressed leading into last year’s Euros. Despite conceding 16 goals in 10 group fixtures, Turkey finished second, three points above Norway.
