Maccabi Haifa Could be Gone
Maccabi Haifa is one of the top teams in the Israeli soccer league and has the most appearances in Europe’s top club tournament from the league with three. It is challenging to be placed in a tough group featuring three of the best soccer teams in their respective countries, but Maccabi Haifa has not looked completely outmatched.
Their shocking 2-0 win over Juventus was Maccabi Haifa’s first win in the tournament since 2002-03, the first time the club ever appeared. Omer Atzili scored both goals in that game as the team took advantage of the faltering Italian giant.
They have only scored two more goals while allowing a total of eight between their three losses. Tjaronn Chery scored one goal in the first match against PSG. It will take something special to beat the French powerhouse.
On the other hand, the win over Juventus does put them in a spot to possibly push for third place and continue European play in the UEFA Europa League.
