Chelsea-linked Christopher Nkunku and former Blues forward Timo Werner both scored a brace to help Die Roten Bullen claim just their third league win from eight matches this season. Celtic: Ups and Downs
Ange Postecoglou’s side opened with a spirited 3-0 loss at home to Real Madrid, and they can count themselves unlucky to have only drawn with Shakhtar Donetsk on Matchday 2. Their amazing 38-game unbeaten run in their domestic league came to an end before the international break when they lost 2-0 to St. Mirren.
A victory for Celtic at the Red Bull Arena would boost their chances of progressing from the group stage for the first time in a decade, when they finished second in a group containing Barcelona, Benfica and Spartak Moscow. They put an end to their three-game winless run across all competitions last weekend when they beat Motherwell 2-1 on home soil. We can’t trust them on the road so we won’t include them in our soccer picks and parlays.
Celtic will be without Carl Starfelt and Georgios Giakoumakis, who are both set to miss out through injury, while Cameron Carter-Vickers and James McCarthy are rated as doubtful and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.
RB Leipzig vs Celtic Head-to-Head
This will be the third meeting between Leipzig and Celtic. They met in Group B of the UEFA Europa League in 2018, with each team claiming one win apiece. Celtic has never won in Germany in 13 games, and no Scottish side has tasted a European victory on German soil since Rangers beat Vorwarts Berlin in 1961.
