RB Leipzig vs Mainz 05 Prediction, Match Preview, Live Stream, Odds and Picks

Visitors’ Non-Losing Streak at Risk

There are four Bundesliga teams that haven’t lost in their last five games, and no, Bayern Munich isn’t on the list. RB Leipzig isn’t on the list either, but the Red Bulls are one victory away from climbing to the top four. On the other hand, Mainz 05 is on the list, making it a tempting soccer betting underdog at +500.

RB Leipzig: Where Are the Goals?

Yes, RB Leipzig is in the title race, but the Red Bulls lost their last two games with an 8-0 aggregate.

Leipzig was crushed 7-0 by Manchester City in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Then, on March 18, it lost 1-0 to Bochum, despite being heavily favored in the soccer lines, winning possession with 66% and taking eight shots on goal, six more than Bochum, but that wasn’t enough to return to the winning column.

To be fair, the team’s top scorer, Christopher Nkunku, remains out due to injury. Nevertheless, this roster also includes Andre Silva, Timo Werner, Yussuf Poulsen and Dominik Szoboszlai. It’s time for any of them to step up.

Even with Nkunku out, Leipzig deserves to be the betting online favorite at -195 since it has only lost one home game, scoring in 15 straight games at Red Bull Arena.

Mainz 05: Highly Motivated

After losing 2-1 to Union Berlin, Mainz 05 coaching staff made some changes that had an incredible effect. Since then, the Red and White are 4-2-0, allowing them to keep the UEFA competition hopes alive since they’re only three points behind sixth place.

On March 19, Mainz drew 1-1 to Freiburg thanks to Karim Onisiwo, who scored the equalizer in stoppage time. The defense also deserves a lot of credit since Freiburg won possession and finished with more shots in total, but Mainz didn’t cave.

Its non-losing streak also includes beating Bayer Leverkusen on the road 3-2. Keep in mind that Leverkusen recently defeated Bayern Munich 2-1. Mainz also managed to snatch a point from Hertha Berlin in its last road game.

Individually, Onisiwo is the main reason to include the visitors in your soccer picks. He’s the team’s top scorer with nine goals, scoring five in the last seven matches. There’s also Marcus Ingvartsen, who has scored eight goals.

The first meeting between these two was a back-and-forth battle that finished 1-1. Marcus Ingvartsen scored the opener for Mainz right before halftime, while Christopher Nkunku saved the day for RB Leipzig late in the second half.

Things were completely different in the previous four meetings at Red Bull Arena, which the home side won with a 19-3 aggregate. No wonder the Red Bulls are heavily favored in the soccer odds.

RB Leipzig vs Mainz Picks and Prediction

Mainz has been a pleasant surprise, but I think its non-losing streak will end on Saturday. The international break allowed RB Leipzig to make some adjustments and its depth is uncanny. Don’t get me wrong, the visitors will put up a good fight, but my online gambling prediction is that the Red Bulls will win by a nose, just like they did in two of their last three victories at home.

RB Leipzig is listed at -195 in our Vegas soccer lines. This means that if you wager $100 on RB Leipzig, you have a chance to win $51. Mainz 05 are +500, offering a chance to win $500 on a $100 wager.

The implied probability attached to the betting lines gives RB Leipzig a 66.10% chance to win, with Mainz 05 at 16.67%.
