A few weeks ago, Real Sociedad was atop La Liga. Nowadays, they sit in fifth place 10 points behind Real Madrid. They simply couldn’t keep up and something similar happened in the UEFA Europa League.
That’s why they’ve no other option than to beat PSV in the last fixture of the Group Stage. The Dutch only need a draw, which is offering a +290 price in our sportsbook.
Real Sociedad on the Downside
Real Sociedad only won one of its last five games in all competitions. It was a 4-0 victory over…Panaderia Pulido in the Copa del Rey. I’m gonna be honest with you, it’s the first time I hear that name.
Most recently, they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in La Liga and 2-1 to AS Monaco in the UEL. They desperately need a victory. Not only to advance, which is important, but also to regain some confidence.
Group B was nicknamed the Group of Death since the beginning and it has met expectations. AS Monaco has already qualified to the next round, but PSV could still catch them at the top. Real Sociedad sits in third place with six points, two less than PSV, six goals for and against.
They dominate the soccer odds despite sitting in third place because beating them at Reale Arena isn’t easy. They own a 4-5-1 record in all competitions. Regarding the UEL, they drew 1-1 to AS Monaco and Sturm.
Mikel Oyarzabal and Alexander Isak are also a couple of good reasons. Oyarzabal has scored six goals in La Liga, while Isak has scored three. The Swedish has also scored three in the continental tournament.
Expect Real Sociedad to attack early on, that formula has worked for them. They’ve scored in all UEL games.
Real Sociedad predicted lineup: Alex Remiro; Andoni Gorosabel, Igor Zubeldia, Robin Le Normand, Diego Rico; Adnan Januzaj, Ander Guevara, Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Oyarzabal; Alexander Sorloth, Alexander Isak.
PSV Putting Up a Good Fight
Ajax is the clear favorite to win the Eredivisie, but Feyenoord and PSV are putting up a good fight. PSV sits in third place with 34 points, two less than Ajax. I know, the Eredivisie isn’t as competitive as La Liga, but still, PSV is in a good rhythm.
Lately, they’ve been a reliable soccer pick thanks to not losing in their last seven games. Most recently, they crushed Utrecht 4-1 despite several usual starters getting some rest. The list includes Marco van Ginkel, Noni Madueke, Yorbe Vertessen, and Mario Gotze. In such a crucial game, fresher legs can make a huge difference.
PSV doesn’t depend on any player to score most goals. Five players have scored three or more goals in all competitions. I’m talking about Bruma, Cody Gakpo, Eran Zahavi, Carlos Vinicius, and Ritsu Doan. Only Zahavi is out due to injury.
You can also expect PSV to attack early on despite playing on the road. They scored in eight of their last 10 games away from home. They only lost three of those games, proven they’re not afraid of playing at any stadium.
PSV predicted lineup: Joel Drommel; Jordan Teze, Andre Ramalho, Olivier Boscagli, Philipp Max; Ibrahim Sangare, Marco van Ginkel, Ritsu Doan, Mario Gotze, Cody Gakpo, Carlos Vinicius.
Real Sociedad vs PSV Head to Head
Once again, expect goals. The first leg in Eindhoven ended 2-2. PSV opened the can thanks to Gotze, but Real Sociedad managed to turn things around thanks to Januzaj and Isak. Gakpo leveled things again for the home side in the second half. PSV was the slight betting online favorite at +135.
Real Sociedad owns a 2-2-3 against Dutch teams, while PSV is 6-14-16 against Spanish teams.

Real Sociedad vs PSV Prediction
Both are extremely talented teams who believe that the best defense is a good offense. PSV has also scored at least one goal in its last five games. That being said, I expect both to score and the total to go over. The visitor’s depth and stamina will make the difference, they’ll pull off the draw they need to advance.
Score Prediction: Real Sociedad 2, PSV 2
