League leaders Real Madrid head to Basque Country for a showdown with Real Sociedad on Sunday. Sociedad held a lead over Real Madrid in the table up until a couple weeks ago but Los Blancos now hold a seven-point lead over any other club.
Real are favored over Sociedad but the soccer lines are cautious about their chances to win. Madrid are listed at a modest +125 as Sociedad haven’t lost at home all season.

Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid Betting Preview
Head-to-Head
Both meetings last season finished in draws. The match at Sociedad was relatively uneventful, finishing scoreless.
Sociedad were just minutes away from a huge win at the Santiago Bernabeu before Vinicius Junior rescued a point for Los Blancos in a 1-1 game.
The last 10 meetings have been competitive with five Madrid wins, three Sociedad wins and two draws.
Real Sociedad Struggling for First Time This Season
Real Sociedad had their moment in the sun, briefly topping the La Liga table. Now, the Basque club sit in third place following a draw with Valencia and loss at Espanyol.
This seems to be the first real moment of adversity Sociedad have faced this season. Before an easy first round Copa del Rey win in which they fielded a team of mostly reserves, they lost two consecutive games in all competitions for the first time this season.
Monaco ended their 17-game unbeaten run last week in the Europa League. Unable to bounce back, Sociedad then fell to Espanyol in a game the Txuri Urdin probably should have won.
With injuries to Mikel Merino and David Silva and Asier Illarramendi getting his fitness back, Sociedad’s midfield is pretty thin right now. That could explain why they’ve been shut out in consecutive La Liga games for the first time all season.
Even with a downturn in recent form, Sociedad have been one of the best La Liga soccer picks and should challenge for the top four this season. They’re still yet to lose a match at home in all competitions and definitely have a shot at winning Saturday.
Real Rolling Through La Liga
Real Madrid are in excellent form as of late and bring a seven-game winning streak in all competitions into this match. They’ve been a great pick for betting online and had two matches in the past week due to an October postponement.
Last weekend vs Sevilla, Los Blancos found themselves down, 1-0, after 12 minutes from a Rafa Mir header. Sevilla very nearly made it as Lucas Ocampos hit the post on a thunderous effort. In the 32nd minute, Madrid center back Eder Militao forced a save from Sevilla keeper Bono and Karim Benzema pounced on the rebound to level the score.
There were chances for both sides to get the winner but Vinicius Jr. brilliantly finished from outside the box in the 87th minute to extend Madrid’s win streak.
Wednesday, Real earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao as Benzema got on the scoresheet for a third-straight match. Playing that postponed match midweek means that Madrid’s stars will be on short rest at Sociedad.
There hasn’t been too much to complain about in Carlo Ancelotti’s start to his second tenure as manager. Los Blancos did suffer a shocking home loss to Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League but are at the top of their group and the La Liga table.
They have the league’s two top scorers in Benzema and Vinicius Jr. and are well-positioned to win their second La Liga title in the last three seasons.
Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid Prediction
Two streaks are on the line here as Real Sociedad are undefeated in nine consecutive home matches and Real Madrid are on a seven-game win streak, in all competitions.
Sociedad have had the best defensive record in the league but oppose a Madrid team that haven’t been shut out for over two months.
That should make for an entertaining contest between two potential Champions League sides. Real Madrid’s best players will be on short rest, which at least partially explains why Sociedad is at -140 in the sportsbook to draw or win.
I think a team of Madrid’s caliber will relish the championship atmosphere that this game figures to provide. At +125 odds, Madrid are a great pick to end Sociedad’s home unbeaten run.
